Huh...guess I'll grab that new PS Vita TV thing.

I was hoping for a new Valkyrie Profile or Star Ocean though, or even Radiata 2.

-copy and pasted from PSO-World-
translation story section:
Quote:
While preforming a long term investigation of the newly discovered planet Machia, the Delta Valiant, a ship belonging to the Arks Special Planetary Exploration Force Alter, is suddenly attacked from the planet and shot down. The ship was able to make an emergency landing on the planet but Machia was a strange world where photons had no power. Additionally, where no civilization was supposed to exist, the survivors are attacked by the Gigantes, a large, heavily armed, artificial living weapon. The small number of survivors set out to investigate the planet in order to determine who attacked them, find a way off the planet, and find out how to return to the fleet.

Life surviving on an inhospitable world begins now.

^ nah, i dont think Tri-Ace ever works on a PS game before. this is like their first time together...i think since
i have never heard of anything Tri-Ace on a PS games ever: Phantasy Star Online, PSU, PSpo2 infinity...nope, never heard of Tri-Ace working any of them with Sega.

but other than that, they are putting in quite a lot of people to work on this Phantasy Star Nova project: Pso-World

There are some details about the game out now, I'll add more information later if more detailed reports show up. It's confirmed that the game has a single player story mode, as well as ad-hoc multiplayer support. So this is NOT an online game. Furthermore it says that they're trying to offer a new sort of Phantasy Star experience based on tri-Ace's unique style. So hopefully this means even though it follows the PSP "formula" on the surface, it'll play like a tri-Ace game?

There's also mention that the game will take advantage of tri-Ace's speciality in soft lighting. I think this means it's going to make good use of tri-Ace's engine which is pushing Physically Based Rendering? I dunno. The core development staff for the game consists of over 70 people, while the total production involves over 200 people. Pretty large scale project. tri-Ace lives!
Phantasy Star with Star Ocean style? sounds pretty neat!

But this game is, with only ad-hoc coop. No online as far as I know.

You're not alone, I also want it too.

I hate that you can't pause at all in Phantasy Star Universe 1 (PS2).

You're correct, it's totally offline except for the coop mode.

Also I really doubt they'll localize this since it still doesn't look like they will even localize PSO2.

Well, if what I heard is correctly (that Shahid guy from Sony), then this game has much higher chance for localization than the previous title, since it's one of those big projects that Sony want to push for their console, and even though it's in the same universe, there is not much connection between the previous title. Let's keep our finger crossed.

There was also an Xbox 360 version of that game.

There is a massive team working on this game, I'm pretty confident this will get localized.

Sega West’s ignorance of recent Phantasy Star franchise stars appears to not be limited to just Phantasy Star Online 2. You can now not expect the just announced Phantasy Star Nova for Playstation Vita to make the trek across the Pacific, either.

A conversation published by Sega Addicts with Sega of America community manager Kellie Parker affirms there are no plans at the moment to localize Nova, putting it in the same limbo as PSO2.

“There are currently no plans to release Phantasy Star Nova in the western market,” Parker said. “Should this change, we will ensure the information is shared as soon as possible.”

It is further injury to insult for Phantasy Star fans, as we broke news earlier today that revealed PSO2 is indeed translated for Western markets, but concerns about profits are holding Sega Sammy back from expanding the MMO’s reach beyond Asia.
Sega is working it's magic again!

My first reaction was to be upset, but now that I think about it, the game was just announced and isn't even out in Japan yet. Let's wait and see.

A battle demo (clocking in at 1.2 gigs) has recently gone live on the Japanese PlayStation Store.

Battle demo video in case you don't want to switch your Vita to Japanese acc. Look pretty good, I must say.

So is this a real RPG, with an actual story, and characters, and plots and sidequests and towns?

Or is it another semi-ARPG like Phantasy Star Online?
