The LN originally ended few years ago with 5 volumes which was where the WN ended, but it seems the author continued the story again. I thought it was strange that they would make an anime adaptation of a novel series that ended few years ago.

Uhh.. Can anyone tell me why apparently he went 15 years without anything remarkable happening to him and then all these events happened to him one after another right after he gets thrown out the door of their home?

No wonder this guy ran into problems in his last life. Has he ever heard of the term "overkill!?" I don't think he needed to nuke those clay wolves to beat them. He could see their cores. Just attack them normally man! Of course this is a guy that uses regeneration magic on a wagon without even thinking twice about it. Kind of seems addicted to heroism. He quit cold turkey, but once he gave into it once he was right back on that path without hesitation.

Good for everyone involved that he did though . Helped save everyone from a brutal situation. I did like the concept of the sacrificial village since that's always going to bring some solid moral questions. Of course in the end I'm in favor of going to save the person that wants to be saved. And an arrogant dragon getting some deserved retribution is fine by me. Can pass on in regret. If he hadn't let that sacrifice go for the sake of amusement then maybe nothing would have happened to him. And I like that the kid saved did turn to the person that made the offer to save her and not simply the main character who ended up killing the dragon. Akira may have lost, but she gave a solid effort .

Show isn't anything special. But it's kind of nice. Definitely one of those "we don't have much budget for a full blown OP so...let's mix in some scenes from the show instead" series . Still some good vibes with Alan and Lise. They are a cute pair and I like that there is plenty of history between them by the time the story gets started. Everything doesn't have to start from zero.

Not a bad first couple of episodes. This could be some light fun.

Seems safe to presume he mostly stayed at home and didn't have any opportunities to get himself into trouble. Especially with him hiding his actual abilities it makes sense that he wouldn't even be allowed into situations that could spiral out of control. Though yeah, that all this stuff happens almost immediately after leaving home is a bit much .

For this guy it feels like flipping a switch. He kept a good lid on his abilities when at home and thus stayed away from trouble. But once he started tapping into those abilities again...he kind of forgot how to stop using them. Once he started regenerating their wagon without a second thought...he really just gave up on hiding much of anything.

For wanting a quiet life, he sure isn't getting far in that goal lol. It'll be amusing when he returns home to squash his family, seeing their reaction to the "useless" kid being OP. I assume it'll happen, since his father is apparently a main antagonist. When he reacted to the wolf in the woods, I thought he was gonna be reacting to invisichick. You'd think super powerful hero OP would notice a stealth skill being used near him. The Amazon is cute; how much you wanna bet there is a heel-face turn in her future? lol

usually former heroes hide their secret for at least a few episodes, he lets it out in like under a minute after he stepped foot outside his house? lol

Well, giving the pace of these two episodes compared to the LN (of which I only read the first volume so far), anime might reach the original ending if there were only 5 volumes.

Well that all got resolved remarkably simply .

Also I suppose it's nice that while Alan won't kill a monster in its sleep he'll totally kill it once he has the excuse of self-defense .

For now Alan's family will remain oblivious to how OP he is and how he's casually crushing their plans.

Can we all stop watching so that he could then return to his peaceful life before all these?

I can't help but laugh since from my perspective both the father and the brother haven't moved from that spot since they've kicked the MC out while the MC was out there going places and had finished his first arc

If only they've let him sleep instead then they wouldn't have had all these problems

Well, the Amazon switched sides to nobodies surprise. Well, nobody who is used to anime tropes. The characters themselves were a bit supernaturally intuitive. The princess stopping the bodyguard from attacking her was a pretty bold choice; betting your life on the character of a person you don't even know and who has given you absolutely no signs that she's willing to change sides.

Even if she recognized the neck thing, that's no guarantee the person is strong willed enough to disobey the command. Lucky for her it all worked out.

I was hoping when Noelle was freaking out and hitting him for carrying her that he'd just straight up drop her and be like "ok, next time I save your life, I'll just leave you passed out in the middle of the woods where any monster can just come along and enjoy the elf buffet"

How old is the hero supposed to be? She looked the same when the blacksmith elf was a little girl.

EXACTLY what I said at that same scene . The absolute absurdity of it amuses me now, because you thought the same thing I did, but while I was watching it, it felt overblown and unnecessary.

The whole idea that this first princess of their country, which SOUNDS like a rather hefty title, is traveling with a single soldier/attendant that cant even defeat what appears to be random monsters on the road is complete ridiculousness. Ofc it could be that those monsters were particularly powerful, and specifically sent by an malevolent party trying to kill the princess, but the way things were set up, I wouldn't have faith in the author to do this.

Then the way the Hero is set up; its very poorly written. The description about how there's only one in every generation and that single person is the only one who can wield the blade is a novelty; yet, she doesn't carry herself with the prestige or dignity I would come to expect of such a title. Worse, the story does her no favors by immediately putting her in a fight she flounders badly. While its true Alan said he couldn't have won without her, the story still didn't allow us to glimpse exactly what made her special, outside the sword. The very fact that during that spar with the attendant, they seemed equal, doesn't make her ability very credible.

I'd probably wouldn't give this another ep if I had to wait a week, but since I just watched it today, I'll see if they get to the town to live the "slow life". Its mostly the story I've come in expecting in this series to fill in for Shin no Nakama.

Spoiler for the carriage and clay wolf scene:

I too wasn't a big fan of failed assassination scene. It would've been better if Riese and Beatrice were shown talking beforehand about using non lethal force to restrain the girl, but having Riese stopping her friend during the fight, putting both of them in danger, felt at best too reckless and at worst stupid.

Still is an awful light escort for a first princess. Usually one would expect royalty to travel with more of a heavy procession.

I do appreciate the clarifications. The 2nd episode did reveal that the clay dogs were sent by those that wanted her dead, which Alan's family is involved in, and with your input, it only makes sense that the dogs were more powerful than I thought. It's just the animation did a s***ty job at making them seem intimidating enough. Same with Beatrice and the Hero. Doesn't really make sense to omit the guards, unless they were just being cheap(i.e. didn't want to draw them to save time); there's no other explanation.

After the 3rd episode, I'm placing my expectations at rock bottom; its basically a crappy adaptation, similar to Slow Life in my 30s or My Daughter is an S-Rank Adventurer. It's the 3rd ep, and he hasn't even settled down in the town yet. I'll keep watching for now, but I expect to be complaining as long as I'm watching.

Well I suppose there are times when Alan's "I'm not going to bother unless you start the fight" attitude can be entertaining. He realized what was up but didn't want to bother fighting if it wasn't necessary. Though I think he should take the Frieren approach and just presume the demons are all evil unless proven differently .

Everything was resolved fairly quickly once he did take action. The most silly part of it was the necromancer figuring he had some shot to win against Alan despite him instantly breaking his spell controlling Lise's Uncle.

Again the show is pretty cheap and not that deep. But there are little things that are alright. The Uncle just confirming that Alan would both protect and be able to protect Lise was nice. And even sporting the guy one last sparing match before he died for good. I'm ok with that.

Not surprisingly, most animation budget went to ending theme instead of the main story. The ending theme is quite clever. Each girl is bound by strings, implying they are like puppets by unknown circumstances. It has little relevance to the main story, but it is still a clever display. The anime adaption from the original source seems quite terrible. It is not a spoiler, since the source already explained the meaning of the title in the beginning. However, the anime skipped the explanation that established story's main setting, and meaning behind the title. First, the banished former hero refers to the hero who saved the world in isekai, but he was feared and hunted by the very people he had saved. He got tired of his life, and he was awarded any wish by goddess, as reward for saving the world. He knows himself as the person of reincarnation since his rebirth. He is born as the first son of the duke's family. He is expelled by the duke's land for not showing any potential. His RPG statistics is always level 1. His level never goes up, which means he doesn't have blessing from goddess. Without the favor of goddess, it damages his social status. Regardless, he doesn't care about his situation since it doesn't get in his way of seeking peaceful life. He still retains his power from previous reincarnation, and he chooses to stay insignificant under the public eyes. On his journey, he meets girls, including his ex-finance. Since the background is skipped by anime, I suspect the production team made anime in rush. As the typical isekai plot, those snobbish enemies who look down on the heroes will feel regret deeply.
