This was a pretty straightforward episode, what started out as a rival for Yosuke turned into Mikoto's time to shine. The way he found out about Yamato being the mystery rider was kind of cheesy especially since it came out of nowhere. The early morning race was full of hot blooded youth which was well done. I didn't really feel or get a sense of speed during the sequence but gives me hope that the actual racing will be done in this manner. Anyway next one is more Mikoto and Yuki related by the looks of it so I'm looking forward to seeing that.

The day before the big first race everyone is on edge and the tension is running high. Mikoto's mother gets worried about Mikoto racing and getting hurt. Mikoto apparently goes into Kansai dialect when he gets very angry. Yuki's funk after being dumped cleared up with upcoming race. Yamato looks like he had a change of heart and will be joining the race after what his little sister said about Mikoto. Terao trying to convince his father to throw in some support was cute. Yosuke's pretty confident that they will win and prove it to that old man. So the stage is set and next episode the big race which should be interesting.

Spoiler for EP.10:

This anime really gave me the Capeta feel, which is good. And it seems like they focus more on the romance ratehr than pure racing, so that's cool too. In ep.10 we finally find out that Mikoto is pretty much a natural at biking, it's just that he sufferered some really serious accident when he's little and so his mom doesn't want to let him ride again. But next ep when would probably get to see some cool road racing moves. So far this anime is not bad, although the pacing could be faster.

Well in this episode Mikoto find his determination to continue riding and keep moving foward aka revealing his true feelings to Fukazawa which has feelings as well even if they are just unsecure about what to do and what to feel

Damn the entire episode consisted of race hype. Anyway that aside pretty good episode to get things rolling. This episode introduces Naoto Hyodo the womanizer who is the no. 1 racer in Japan with a huge ego and some kind of connection to Yuki. As expected Yamato shows up to the race interrupting Naoto's tirade on the other racers getting everyone fired up. The race begins pretty normal until Mikoto falls behind and loses sight of Terao and co. A black cat appears in the middle of the road taking out a huge number of racers with Mikoto coming it out of it alright ending the episode. Next one should be more exciting racing fun.

Spoiler for ep9:

Mikoto refuses to accept his defeat to Yamato. Later at the club he's told that the first race is coming up and gets more fired up. As the club goes out to run he starts to have jitters regretting racing Yamato and the probability of failing to answer the clubs expectations. At home Mikoto watches a video Terao gave him which brings back his spirits. Next day he gives Yamato an entry form and tells him he'll wait for him there. He also notices something is wrong with Yuki and wants to help her. During another practice he leaves saying Yuki is acting strange, he makes an ass out of himself chasing after her going home on a bus with his bike. She tells him to leave her alone because he's annoying her and what not.

Back at her home, Yuki is still depressed and her mother comes in with snacks to cheer her up. Her mom asks her if she got dumped again, when she asks how did she know she tells her about her friend who has been waiting looking at her window in the rain. Mikoto starts to scream that he's grateful for all she's done and at the race he'll try hard to show his gratitude even if he might not win along with more cheesy stuff.

Just watched the first two episodes and my god this show is hilarious. I don't think I've laughed this much since School Rumble. The main character is so damn adorable, and the animation in general is really attractive. Think I'll wait till at least episode 10 is released before I watch more though.

Reminds me of a comment by F1 driver Mark Webber after he finished 5th on his debut race, the 2002 Australian Grand Prix, something about overtaking the field when they all retired and finishing much higher than expected (in the 2002 Australian GP, two of the front runners, Ralf Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello, collided at the first corner at the start of the race, causing an 8-car pileup, which helped Webber, who started in 18th place in a slow car, a Minardi, finish in the top 5).

After Mendoi's release spree, I decided to give the show a whirl. And well... at least in one aspect it's groundbreaking: I believe that Mikoto must be the single most annoying male lead I've ever witnessed. He is making my blood boil. GAWD.

Then again, Fukazawa is not only boiling hot, she's got a very likable character to boot. I'll give the show 2-3 more chances due to her alone.
