I was going to throw in a George Carlin phrase about something being bigger, but I'll just stay on topic and say that I'll only celebrate Christmas as only time spent with the family.

If you do some research, you will find that most Muslims and Jews in the middle east do believe that they worship the same God. They just disagree as to whose side God is on, which goes back to the sons of Isaac (Jacob and Esau). The old testament and the qur'an are very similar until that point.

You're talking about the more prominant religions today. There are a lot of religions that have little or nothing to do with the middle east but are not well known. (Take the spiritual beliefs of the Native Americans for example.)

The "middle east" as we call it here in the states is thought to be the cradle of life, where humans first walked the earth. Doesn't it make sense then that many religions would come from such a place?

You're thinking too much in terms of race and national origin, and not in terms of historical context.

they do not, actually
while christians and muslims believe in Jesus, muslims believe that he is a minor prophet, while christians believe Jesus to be their God
and the teachings are pretty different, the koran and the bible

Who told you that?
Jesus is not a god for christians. Hes gods son, but still a human (although that might not be correct for some of all those christian churches..)

The christian god is said to be the same god as the muslims and jews god.
After all, those 3 religions are monotheistic, so there can be only one god, so it MUST be the same one. logic at its finest..hm?
Every one of them only state that their way of following that god is the right one.

What Briareos said. You can look it up...

Not all prophets hail from the Middle East. Check out Joseph Smith, he's as American as I am, although I am less of a prophet or Mormon than he was...

Now those are typical things the churches disagree about.
Only thing I know is, for catholic church, what you wrote is just wrong.

Look at it this way. If two people describe the creation of the world (something no person has seen) in two completely different ways, they're still talking about the same world -- even if they understand it differently.

Christians, Jews and Muslims all have different understandings of the same God. Their differing views don't mean that there are three Gods.
What you may be thinking of is the phrase "my God" or "the Hebrew God" from the Old Testament. Many of the cultures surrounding the ancient Hebrews believed in many gods. There were deities in those religions for many things. The singular God of the Hebrews was certainly different from the many gods and idols worshiped at the time.

Prophecy doesn't necessarily have anything to do with religion, and neither do morality and spirituality. Someone can be moral and spiritual, and even a prophet without being religious.

the bible isnt to be taken literally on all points, lots of figurative language, tower of babel was the actual concept of being equal to God, psalms were pretty much poems written by kings, etc, etc
