The first version of Summer anime releases has been released, I didn't see a topic for it so i thought I'd share it with you all:
Spoiler for V1, no OVA/ONA or OAV's:
Spoiler for V2, includes OVA's ONA's and OAV's:
Spoiler for V3, the final list:
For me there are a few I might check out, but so far nothing must watch, however I wonder if KyoAni will release something this season.

Meh.
New series are, for the most part, looking more and more alike. It's the curse of Lucky Star and Haruhi being so successful. Seems like 8 of 10 new series are pitching moe schoolgirls on their one sheets. The economy will turn around eventually, and I hope that at least some of the decline we're seeing in quantity and variety of new series will reverse itself at that point. But there are definitely other elements to that and they aren't going to fundamentally change with the economic recovery, such as the decline in income from U.S. distribution. I'm not a doomsayer but if you look at 2007 versus 2009, it ain't a pretty picture.

Hmm, Brains-Base is doing Spice & Wolf II? They didn't even appear to have a seat on the production committee for the original series.
Other than BONES Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, I'll probably still be watching Kemono no Souja Erin and Chi's New Address. And didn't we just see that cute-girls-go-to-art-school show, you know, the one called Hidamari Sketch? Oh, this is a different cute-girls-go-to-art-school show.

spice & wolf is a must-watch. the studios of Tokyo magnitude and Needless raise my expectations for those shows a little. oh, interesting to see what's Umineko like, but its probably not better than Higurashi...
the rest is...you know...girls in 2 series lose their parents this summer, cute girls learning mahjong wasnt enough to please the hardcore fans, so now they will be learning baseball (whats the deal with baseball anyway?) and...stars, and ^^ yeah, learn how to draw again.

Added to "Plan to watch"-list so far:
- Spice and Wolf II - Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 - CANAAN - Umineko no Naku Koro ni Like usual probably ending up checking almost all of them. >.<' Note to self: Need to finally start watching Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. |

I'm definitely watching Umineko and Canaan. Sora no Manimani [I love childhood friends, cliche as they are.] and Umi no Monogatari look promising. I guess I'll also try Yoku Wakaru Gendai Mahou, Princess Lover!, and Seitokai no Ichizon, but they don't look as good.

The obligatory summer fan servicy show is missing. Where is it?
Tokyo Magnitude and Spice & Wolf are the two to look forward to. Bakemonogatari has some potential also, but I'm not holding my breath.

Oh, and I forgot Sora no Manimani. I liked the manga well enough though the main girl to me is the clueless type I dislike. It should be a pleasant light romantic comedy to pass the time if nothing goes wrong.
I think the big breasted girl in Princess Lover! indicates that it's the obligatory harem sexual comedy show of the season... |

I'm expecting great things from Spice and Wolf II and Zan Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, and I'm getting awfully hyped up about Umineko no Naku Koro ni. I sincerely hope the latter delivers, as it sounds like just the kind of thing I'd really enjoy. If it's half as good as Higurashi, I'll be one pleased fanboy.
I'm virtually clueless about the rest of the series, but surely there'll be at least one or two other shows I'll end up following.

I really don't want to know your expectations. Because I see more than one worth checking. Back on the topic.
To me, it is: - Canaan. Because Type-Moon is involved at some point. - Spice & Wolf II, because the episode 0 have put me in good mood and comforted me over how the spirit of the first season will be intact at most. - Umineko. Mostly because all of my IRC pals who checked the game have said a LOT of positive things about it. - Cobra. Because I am old school like that. - Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 - Hetalia 2. First episode of S1 was meh, but I was really sold by episode 3. Now I want more Hetalia, a series I'd describe as World History as sitcom with yaoi undertones. |

All always, I'm blissfully ignorant of the mangalightnoveleroge or whatever these are based on. Roughly from "save investment of time" to "surely a waste of time" with sequels going to the extremes:
Spice and Wolf 2 sequel Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei 3 (or 4) sequel Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 Sounds like a no-nonsense story that could become great if they stay clear of BS. Umineko no Naku Koro ni While I don't believe that any author (or studios or directors or) has a subscription to greatness, I would be surprised if this doesn't turn out at least decent. Sora no Manimani Star gazing SoL maybe? Hell, why not. Bakemonogatari In dubio pro Shaft. Canaan Synopsis sounds somewhat interesting. Needless Generic shounen/adventure stuff? Is like a box of chocolates. You never know ... Yoku Wakaru Gendai Mahou " ... often mistaken for a grade schooler ..." Umi Monogatari What is this I don't even ... Aoi Hana This is yuri I guess? Depends on how the cliches are played out (hopefully not at all). Geijutsuka Art Design Class aka Hidamari Sketchbook Full Colors. How inventive. Is this a genre already? Seitokai no Ichizon What is this? Reeks of moe for the sake of moe. Kanamemo See above, just more so. Princess Lover A harem, amirite? Element Hunters Oh Lord, chemistry courses in my animu. Or the other way around. Taishou Yakyuu Musume Baseball. Nuff said. Ukkari Penelope For young children Hetalia 2 sequel Cobra sequel

AOI HANA!!!
http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=78894 http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/ency...e.php?id=10672 Realize this! Director Kenichi Kasai who brought us the extremely solid works of Honey and Clover and Nodame Cantabile will be directing this, and I'm banking on this series to be one of the yuri series I can actually suggest to other peeps without being embarrassed on certain plot devices. And I can say that in the manga Aoi Hana goes to directions that rarely goes through in your usual yuri series.
