I have to disagree. It was not good. Emotions regarding that particular scene were not there. Definitely not touching the same emotional depths as it did in the game. The fact was sad, and maybe thats what made you cry, but the execution was pretty poor.

I am glad that they had it hidden from last weeks preview though. Made us think it would happen in episode 18.
Easily one of the best episode in the series for me! This is more in line with what I was hoping the anime would be like.
I used to worry about the Rosie and Isara plotline getting scrapped because of Ramal, but I'm glad that they went through with it after all. Somehow though their relation doesn't seem to have gotten much development throughout the series though.
Hopefully they develop a bit more on Isara's death on next episode, as it was a bit anticlimactic there.
That's very likely. They just didn't show any of that in the preview.
Splitting it into two is not a that good idea when the premise (this episode) is not that emotionally touching, then the other half will not have that much effect, besides it does not look like they will give a whole episode for that either so, it will be kind of rushed through at best.
I am still glad as Shiroth that they at least did, and even without pushing in tsundere boy too much (but at the same time because Isara and Rosie did not feel as connected as in the game it still lacked some deeper feeling). It was not a bad episode (I give it 8) but it just wasnt as touching as it could be as well.

That or Alicia/Super Faldio kick his sorry ass and drag him back. Realistically it should be the latter, because Welkin so far seems to be trapped in teenage emo mode for life. He is far from being a depressed man who could be brought back by such event, he is more of teenager (or a retarded man who is still in his teenage years mentally) who is afraid of responsibility and would hide somewhere sulkily sucking his thumb instead.
Every member of Squad Seven gets at least one line in this episode. That's VERY welcome, and we also get some small looks at some of the individual Sevens. An example is Emile Bielert, and his love of art.
The militia is sent to Marberry Beach, which is dreadfully reminiscent of the Beaches of Normandy. I've never been there, but you get the idea.
We get yet another glimpse of the corrupt politics in the Gallian government. It even makes Welkin think that the medal he received may be tainted (in a sense).
Alicia is still in a tizzy over her relationships with Welkin and Faldio. It gets so bad that she ends up burning her bread (again), and burns her hands while trying to remove her burning pot from a fire. Faldio comes to help her, and we learn that Alicia is a VERY fast healer.
I lol'd so hard at the Feast of All Spirits scene. Jann gets a leopard thong for Largo (how deliciously gay), and Edy gets something for Homer, blushing all the while. I guess the creators feel the Edy/Homer pairing is canon. Yay!
For his gift, Faldio gives back the Ragnite crystal to Alicia. Welkin sees this, and you can tell he's jealous.
Finally, Ramal got some balls, and managed to give Isara a necklace. As if that weren't a subtle enough hint...
Isara makes a good luck doll for Rosie, which she hesitantly accepts. But she doesn't really keep a close eye on it, and drops it when Squad Seven assaults the beachhead. This almost ends up getting Rosie sniped, though she takes a grazing hit to her shoulder.
The battle for Marberry is pretty dang good, though it was over too fast for my tastes.

About politics, I'm really waiting anxiously to see what's the link between the Prime Minister and Damon. With all these photos, I wish Irene alerted some of the most trusted Gallian political spheres (the Princess and her faithful) to remove Damon from his general-in-chief status, add treason charges with it (give him a gun to spare the formalities would be fine too) and put the Prime Minister under arrest. If only the Princess wasn't such a wimp...
Now, Welkin starts to feel jealous. That's the price for being so pathetic with Alicia when the field was wide open to score with her.
Edy blushing when she gave Homer her gift was just great. Also thumbs up by me for voicing most of minor Squad 7 characters this time. Ramal and Isara romance was perfect, and I really wished for more from them...
I didn't catch what Isara said to Alicia, but it sounded interesting since I guess it involves the latter to Welkin.
That attack sure reminded me of the assault on Pointe du Hoc area (those who played Call of Duty 2 know this place as well). The main differences being the attack from land instead from the sea, no climbing on the cliff, and the lack of air/naval support. The battle was OK, but a little short as you said and felt that having tanks to push Imperial troops out of bunkers is a little to simple. If the writers read about the history on Pointe du Hoc, it would have given them more ideas to extend the fun a little more.

Isara getting shot at the end was heartbreaking... hopefully, we'll have more of her next week. It can't just end like that.

Since I never played the game, Isara's death was a shock to me, I never imagined that she would die....I mean I imagined Alicia getting killed countless times lmao but not Isara....:/ Now I'm hoping Welkin will get into depression mode and then Alicia comes to comfort him and this and that and they become intimate lolz

It would sure seem wrong with the mood if the guys look normal after someone dear died. Anyway, I already asked a number of times on what Ramal's purpose would be if Isara died since he was just starting to get more involved with her, but still not quite so deep of a relationship yet at this stage. Besides, when you kill a character in anime, there has to be a scene following afterwards and that basic rule wasn't applied here so far. There might be some hope left.
If Isara is just put on the wounded list, that would be great news. However, we can't say characters voiced by Houko Kuwashima were lucky in recent years.
