Oh My God this is the best news of the year!
^___________________________^ And it will be done by KyoAni on the top of that! Ah and: Quote:
For Megumeru, it's a song by Riya and with music from Euphonius, so it's from Riya |

On the other hand, the true ED song is the most destructive out of all Key musics. Well, considering Maeda-san will no longer write scenarios after Little Busters!, you could say that these are the last remaining Key games that had the "Maeda Touch". CLANNAD being the longest and most ambitious project of them all, it deserves to be showered in some spotlight, I think. |

To be honest, if you asked me, I wouldn't use "Chiisana Te no Hira" (小さな手のひら, the palm of a small hand) as the TV ED. At least not right from start. It's a great ED song in the game because everything from the lyrics and melody reminded you of everything that has happened in the story. It was really an emotionally powerful song for anyone who have just completed the game.
On the other hand, if it's used as a TV ED, that means it'll be played over and over again after every episode, which means its impact and significance will most likely be reduced by the time we reach the end. If the world revolved around me, I'd use the regular ED song "Kage Futatsu" (-影二つ-, two shadows) at first, then switch over to, say, the more upbeat -new season mix- of "Chiisana Te no Hira" (scroll down to CLANNAD remix album -memento-, track 10) at a later point. Then use the original "Chiisana Te no Hira" for the final episode. |

Sushi-Y: For some reason, kage futatsu reminds me too much of AIR's usual ED... anyways, building up on your original post, and assuming CLANNAD ends up a two-season series (26 episodes for School Life, 26 episodes for After Story):
School Life OP Theme: メグメル -cockool remix- Promotional video already gave this away. ED Theme: -影二つ- -MintJam Mix- Not as "epic" as the original version, but certainly doesn't make it sound like the series is going to end anytime soon. Final ED Theme: -影二つ- The ending theme for the end of the School Life arc. After Story OP Theme: same Nothing to see here. ED Theme: 小さな手のひら -new seasons mix- Same reasons as Sushi-Y stated. Final ED Theme: 小さな手のひら Same reasons as Sushi-Y stated.

Frankly, I would have preferred KyoAni to animate Planetarian first because of its unusual settings and Reverie (I also happen to prefer the Eeji Komatsu's designs in that game compared to Itaru Hinoue) but I guess it's just a wishful thinking considering the little amount of source material to work with. A new season of FMP would be nice as well.
On the topic of Clannad, a friend told that this game did not do as well as Kanon or AIR in Japan. I suspect so because there's a lack of Clannad fanarts compared to the sheer amounts that Kanon and AIR delivered to us. I'm just curious, is this because of the lack of Hentai in the game? Or is it because the game is not too markedly different (rehashed plot elements and characters) from Key's previous works? Combination of both? I would like to know about this. |

It's worth noting that the PS2 version of Clannad bombed in comparison to console ports of Kanon and Air (Higurashi is hot on the PS2 at the moment. I expect Fate/Stay Night to sell very well too). Additionally, Tomoyo After failed to generate the buzz you'd expect, so there's definitely less market interest in the IP. As you say, one possible explanation is that Clannad didn't really offer anything new to the genre, unlike Kanon (not 100% new, but it popularized what Jun Maeda started with ONE, so it was fresh for most consumers), Air, or Fate/Stay Night. |
