For years, the Japanese government has kept a secret: mythical creatures like centaurs, harpies and lamia are real.[1] Three years before the start of this story, the government published the existence of these creatures and passed a legal bill, the "Interspecies Cultural Exchange Act". Since then, the 'liminals' have become a part of human society, living with ordinary families like foreign exchange students and au-pair visitors, but with other duties and restrictions (the main one being that liminals are forbidden to harm humans and vice versa).

Kimihito Kurusu did not volunteer for the exchange program, but when Ms. Smith delivered the very scared and embarrassed Miia to his door by mistake,[1] he didn't have the heart to send her away and they started living together. As the story continues, Kimihito meets and gives shelter to other female liminals, each of a different species. Some arrive more or less by accident, some are forced upon him by Ms. Smith—or force themselves in, and it does not take long for him to find himself in a hectic environment where he struggles to live in harmony with his new housemates while dealing with both their constant advances and the dramas of helping them get along in the human world. The situation takes on a whole new twist after he is told that because of expected changes in the law dealing with human-liminal relationships, it is hoped that he will marry one of the girls.

I've read a few chapters of the manga, but don't remember much of it.

This had to be the very first time I've seen a title that had half-legitimate monster girls getting an anime.

Which is interesting, I've read a bit of the manga and while it was your typical high-level ecchi comedy, it actually comes packed with an unique twist involving supernatural girls that aren't just humans pretending to have monster status (I'm looking at you, Dragonar Academy), they definitively have the characteristics of a human/monster hybrid as well. From what I've read during that time, the protagonist isn't an highschooler so that's a plus.

So it seems summer feels promising only because many of the very popular manga (Prison School especially) are airing in that season. This is going to a rather (erotically) hot period.

There's only been what, 30 chapters of the manga? It sure is popular. Then again, this semi-bestial harem is very much SoL-ish, so they can easily make some fillers if the writer is good (or better yet, cooperate with the mangaka).

I'd say this anime will be like To-Love-Ru with actual (scary) monster-girls, not just sexy girls with animal ears/tails/wings or different hair-color. This title is unique that way. Just hoping there's no brutal censorship.

Awesome. I love the manga so I'm looking forward to this, but... might be better to just wait for the blu-ray unless it's uncensored from the get go.

When u consider what a miserable flop most harems have been over the last few years with very few exceptions. This move makes no sense because this is about as generic a harem as it gets and i cannot see this ending well by any stretch. The monster girls will make it slightly interesting but really no.

It's a monthly series so saying 30ish chapters isn't enough is weird.

If I had to guess where an anime would end, it would probably be the arc that just finished with the mothers' visits. To be honest it could actually end before that since I could see a lot of the chapters being expanded out to take up a whole episode.

If you meant the move to adapt this series this early, then yeah, I already pointed that out.

And yes, when it comes down to it, this is generic harem, no doubt about that. The unique thing about this series is, it takes the anatomy and culture of the monster girls rather seriously for a harem standard, sometimes even down to the grim details. And it never shy away from the scary elements of these monster girls, not only things that makes them cuter. For me, that’s enjoyable enough for this genre. If you think otherwise, well, that’s your problem. Nisekoi is also a generic harem manga yet the anime adaptation is very enjoyable. At least this genre is custom-made for fanservice and titillation, unlike some series which are supposed to be fantasy/sci-fi but throw some braindead fanservice at the audience every so often.

Now the issue is: will this adaptation be able to capture all the charm that is in the manga? I’m not necessarily asking for faithful adaptation. Just make it as enjoyable as the manga.

For a manga, adapting into anime after only 30-ish chapters is a bit early imo. I never said it won't be enough if the series will only be 12-13 episodes. If it's gonna be 24-26 episodes, well, I don't know.

Not really. I have heard of it but I haven't read it. I'm familiar with this theme of monster girls. There are lots of games like that but this series. I haven't touched it yet. I just can't see the reason why I would if it turn into another silly series with lots of fan service and silly MC.
