He became a Hero because he was recognized as such after his deeds, which seems to be the key element. Some kind of recognition of the status, like summoning a hero = recognizing person summoned as a hero. Another example in Sage's case, no one recognized the born hero as a hero until he showed up with spirit power which created the problem since the kingdom had already summoned a hero.

If you are born in that place or world you are a born hero and if you are summoned then you are a summoned hero.

Oh yes, they would them sad at their problems. But!

The heroes would be more than willing to help their situations like they did with that highschool girl and the waitress girl.

Come to think of it, that country that tried to use them really should get blacklisted from ever being able to use a summoning.

So, I've been following this series for a while, and just a bit ago, while browsing a site hosting Chinese translations of LN, I stumbled across the Chinese translation for this under the name 勇者互助公会 交流型留言板.

It's generally not easy to find Chinese translations for lesser known series, both because they might not have a translation in the first place, and because even if they do, the Chinese name may or may not be anything like the Japanese name or English translation.

Anyways, happy with my newest find, I've been browsing through it a bit. Lots of fun all around. Especially happy to find out the ending for the Estrard story arc (Final chapter of the LN V1, where Student and High School Girl went to a Hero Union Banquet and they ended up meeting the new Estrard Hero, who's going by Waitress).

That actually was one of the chapters I browsed. Pretty fun one too.

Spoiler for details:

Basically, it started with the thread starter talking about how he got summoned and was immediately thrown in jail.

It turns out that in his world, the Demon King was a peaceful and enlightened ruler, with a peaceful and enlightened people. Even though the barbaric humans would send "Heroes" to try to kill him, he just ends up teleporting them back.

In the world he got summoned, it turns out that there was no real threat from the Demon Kingdom, and the kingdom that summoned him just wanted to use him to conquer more land.

Eventually, under suggestions from Battle Maid, the Demon King ended up deciding to conquer the kingdom, enter peace talks with the Demon King in that world, and bring about peace that way, thus fulfilling his duties as a Hero.

I pity the detective. Somehow parallel world #4 was full of shocking Heroes... I bet next time ultraman'll appear and bring the final blow to the detective. And student always there to pour a salt on their wounds. He always appeared in every chapters, Is he the founder of heroes alliance or something. And that veggie can't be compared to Gaim, mate... It simply horrible...
