Oh, I loved this episode.
High points: -Nice depiction of Comike. It was hilarious when Konata began preparations (I hear it was music from Doom?). -BL Kagami was great. -Tomokazu vs Tomokazu was possibly one of the best ideas that spewed out of this show. Cheers to that! -The episode kind of slowed down after the first half, and the jokes got a bit low. But it was plenty of good moments, anyways. -Did anyone notice the 10-15 second budget-saving scene when Konata & dad are watching TV?

As far as I can tell from the Random Curiosity screen caps, this is an anime-only episode, though many of the individual gags *may* come from the manga (vol1-4). I'll have to wait for the subs to verify that (since I'm not watching raws on this puppy).
So far comments sound like its not a "product placement overloading the plot" but just a lot of background bits for people to play "Where's Waldo" with. I'll wait to see the execution before commenting further, though the Akira gag connecting L*C to the show appears hilarious. Poor Kagami appears to have jumped into the deep end of the pool. Tsukasa, otoh, appears to be worried but not quite sure why

Maybe there are rules, but who cares to check their identification in that crowd. Also most of those doujinsh are againt copyrights law (most copyrights holder choose to ignore them though), so those who sell doujinshi wouldn't even mind if some highschool girls buy their stuff.

Hey, I think you guys need to spoiler your posts. This episode just NEEDS to be watched unspoiled.
Spoiler for Episode 12:
Not sure about Comike (only been to the Korean equivalent), but some of the booths are manned by high school kids, who are probably also the authors, so.......

Funny episode, although as mentioned before, the first half was a lot better than the second. I was kind of miffed a few weeks ago when they didn't show the Summer Comiket (which Kona said she would go to in the summer), but they made up for it by showing the winter one. There were so many KyoAni referrences in the background. I was also surprised to see the Anime Tenchou sequence again.

After rewatching the episode (yeah, I don't feel like working), I really like this episode's Karaoke session. Seems really natural, with everyone (is it everyone?) joining in. Konata jumping in too early is also something that's commonly seen. I wonder if that was Hirano Aya's actual mistake, since the laughs from the others seem so natural. (wooo... has a sudden urge to go back to Seoul:-( )

Anyone know which 2 songs? As for Comike rules, there are no age restriction to enter Comike as it's not an adult-only event. Not all doujin are 18-kin, mind you. It's up to the seller of the material to make the age rule stick, but really, most circles will sell to anyone not looking children. No one checks ID. And what really happens is that everyone really ignore these age restriction rules anyway - I mean, the age of consent is 13 in Japan. You mean you can have sex at 13 but can't read adult material until 18? Most people are not up tight about sex (not like Americans) so if a boy reads porn it's totally okay as long as it's in private. Same with girls, as long as you don't talk about it in public. So basically anyone who's old enough to want to go Comiket get to buy anything they want. Have you guys ever joined in a real conversation with a bunch of Japanese friends? Man the topic goes down hill really fast. All I can say is that in front of close friends, Japanese man and woman talks about sex openly and candidly. And then once everyone is drunk crying and accidental nudity will ensue. Ah good times. Last edited by AVPlaya; 2007-06-24 at 23:30. |

When Konata and Kagami are talking about kagamimochi, and Konata spreads her arms wide and says, "Kon~na no!", is anyone else reminded of Tonari no Totoro where Mei is talking about the Totoros she meets? Aya-sama's voice is so cute there! This episode was really awesome, but that was my favorite part. (^ω^)

You have to remember the first european settlers to New World were, to a fair degree, religious fanatics who'd been thrown out of Europe because they got tired of them or missionaries bent on "fixing" the people there. Granted a lot of other people showed up later, but "puritanical" means something for a reason.
Oh, there's a lot of ribald perverse crap here, but there's also a huge streak of "GUILT" that results in some bizarro behavior at the individual and societal level. The funny thing is that I can trip across the border to Canada and can just feel and see the difference in attitude (not that they don't have some looney tune rules on comic porn). Go to western Europe and then its light years of difference.
