I have simpler answer to that. It's just because contrast makes things more fun. Exaggeration, going extreme, let your imagination runs wild. Most fanart are like that. It's somehow a concept to let the most unlikely one to be the one.

eg. in below pic, you may think "Nanoha should cosplay Marisa instead of Reimu if she still wants to be a bombardment mage," but then she will fit into that role too well, and things wouldn't be that interesting.

I think Marisa is her mentor in thieving. Afterall, Master Spark a move Marisa stole from other, and Marisa is very good at stealing other precious things (girls' hearts more specifically).

But why is Patchouli in your example, her body is too weak to accept so much love from Marisa. It should be Alice, she is used to get tortured by Marisa, mentally and physically.

Marisa's all about LASERS and FULL POWAH, so she could be Nanoha's mentor in just about everything. As for the image, it's just a picture I borrowed from the Touhou Wiki. Whoever made it used Patchouli.

Hmmm I wouldn't say it's confirmation that NanoFate is canonical. It's only saying that of the two, Fate is considered by other people to take on the role of father for Vivio. Tsuzuki's response is relatively neutral, continuing on with the Fate-mama name scheme as to reflect Vivio's view and position on things, not the entire household. The third point is just an interview with the voice actors playing the role. I do not feel that should be taken as official.

In any case, any further speculation is a debate to hold elsewhere, and not here.

I didn't know about the existence of this interview, it's funny how they see Fate as the papa/husband xD the last lines are priceless. They are becoming more and more shameless about their relationship, I wouldn't be surprised if in the next season they show that they are married xD in fact since they decided to make a movie about the first season maybe they may do as well something like Nanoha School Days

Could someone correct the grammar of this translation? I'd do it by myself but my grammar is bad, but at least I think I'll translate it to Spanish after is corrected ^^
