Make Taiwan Part of the Pivot
Washington can send a strong signal to Beijing if it sells F-16s to Taipei.

An opinion from the WSJ (owner: Rupert Murdoch, opinion: war profiteer cheerleader Hammond-Chambers)... joy....

Opening bullshit statement in the article:
Quote:
Last year, [Obama] imperiled the island nation's deterrent against mainland China by refusing to sell it F-16s, though it did sell it upgrade kits for existing F-16s.
What exact "signal" would this be sending -- or more accurately, how would it be read by the currently frazzled PRC leadership?

I chuckled at this line.

It has nothing to do with reputational price. It has everything to do with a media that does this:

YouTube
Sorry; dynamic content not loaded. Reload?

Crossfire was cancelled four months later because of this interview.....but the punditry (sorry, it's partisan hackery) has only gotten worse.

At some point, the braying jackass (like mister "communists!!!") has to be asked this and nothing else til he or she answers:

"Are you lying or are you stupid? There is no other choice."

Seriously - every single reporter should ask no other question til that one gets answered by the likes of these shit sprayers.

Whether the reporter still have his job the day after this is another question though. Or at least here, he doesn't.

That's the whole fallacy of the "We report! You decide!!" that Fox (or CNN, other for-profit corporate news) utterly fail at ... These assertions and pronouncements are reported in a vacuum. There's no followup questions, no fact checking.

So.... meh.

And in separate news, we're also on the spiral of doom medically...

I think Fox News is going to meet their own trainwreck.

Good god how fucked up is your diet culture that Metformin and a TZD combination no longer works, and before they hit twenty? That drug combination is practically one of the final steps before you start taking insulin, and insulin is still hella expensive.

That, you have to blame :

1. Big Foods - there is so much meat in the American diet that it is so easy to get fat. And not to mention HFCS.....
2. Japan - If they didn't export moe, people wouldn't get diabetes.

I keep wanting to post nice pictures of the secondary complications of type 2 diabetes but it probably runs afoul of the PG-13 forum rules (they're nasty..... and given the poor delivery of healthcare *and* diet options we're going to see an explosion of secondary complications).

Not meat so much.... but corn syrup, simple carbs, processed foods, and a counter-thrust from general inactivity.

It's not so much the meat as it is the saturated fats, cholesterol, processed polysaccharides and whatever other food additives added into fast food.

Hell I've seen an 18 year old diabetic with an amputated foot, and he had Type I. I imagine orthopedic surgeons will have a field day with the probable rise on diabetic feet requiring amputations. And those feet smell horrid.

Diabetic foot is one of those smells you'll never forget, like the smell of Stage 3+ cervical cancer. I can smell a diabetic foot from 8 feet.
