Lots of shows on break this week because of Fuji TV's annual FNS27. The top 10 will therefore most likely be topped by Conan but what's more interesting is that many shows which usually don't rank will be able to do so this time. Too bad Uchuu is low compared to its average as it might miss one of its rare occasions to break into the rankings...we'll see. I think we'll get something like this :

A Top 12 instead of a Top 10 with all these shows getting a 2.8, that's rather unusual. ^^

Conan on top as expected. Pokemon and Naruto both at a very high level compared to their standards in recent months (highest rating of the year for both in fact). Pokemon beating the One Piece rerun doesn't really come as a surprise but I didn't expect Naruto to rank so high. Maybe it's the movie effect (upcoming movie for Naruto) ? Or the japanese knowing they wouldn't have their weekly dose of big week-end anime (Conan excepted) chose to watch something else. Or important episodes for both of these anime ?

Inazuma and Smile Precure obviously rank a little higher than usual and Hunter x Hunter breaks into the Top 7. Behind we have a few NHK shows, one of which occasionnaly ranks a few times a year (Curious George) followed by 2 Tv Tokyo week-end shows. Sadly, both Uchuu Kyoudai and noitaminA fail to rank.

Ouch, talk about a bad rating. Hopefully it's a one time thing and it goes back up to less mediocre levels in the upcoming weeks.

Once again I'm going to question the order of presentation of noitaminA offerings. I'd imagine Fuji chose to run Moyashimon Returns first in hopes of bringing back the viewers who had watched either the 2007 anime or the 2010 live-action series, and then hold them over to watch Natsuyuki Rendezvous. I think the anime audience turns over too fast for those kinds of appeals. I also suspect that the folks who contributed to the high ratings enjoyed by the original Moyashimon are exactly the sort of people who are now no longer in the anime, or at least the noitaminA, audience.

The problem with running Returns first is that it picked up right where the first season left off. Anyone trying out the show for the first time would have no idea who these characters are, what relationships they have, why Kei wears a dress, why Haruka is whipping men, etc., etc. It all made sense to me, but I would have been left adrift if I just started watching Returns without any prior exposure to the Moyashimon franchise.

I bet the staff for Natsuyuki Rendevous are not happy with this situation.

Conan, Chibi and Sazae are all quite low. The Olympics perhaps ? If so Doraemon and Shin-chan should suffer the same fate the next 2 weeks, they escaped this time because they aired before the opening ceremony took place in London. Morning shows (One Piece, Toriko, Hunter x Hunter, SS Omega etc.) don't suffer nearly as much since they air when it's the middle of the night in London.

Second lowest ever, the lowest is 2.7%. And yeah, definitely not a good rating, especially when Space Brothers is 1% higher. It's weird that it's so low because as it airs in the morning I don't think it's up against the Olympics (unless the japanese networks broadcast reruns).

They broadcast Olympic reruns almost constantly in my corner of Japan. Sometimes it's a struggle to find anything else airing!

The top 10 will therefore most likely be topped by Conan but what's more interesting is that many shows which usually don't rank will be able to do so this time. Too bad Uchuu is low compared to its average as it might miss one of its rare occasions to break into the rankings...we'll see. I think we'll get something like this : 1-Conan 2-Pokemon/One Piece rerun 3-One Piece Rerun/Pokemon 4-Inazuma Eleven Go (4.6%) 5-Smile Precure 6-Hunter x Hunter 7-Anpanman 8-Naruto 9-Uchuu Kyodai (maybe ?) 10-Some Tv Tokyo anime

Pokemon and Naruto both at a very high level compared to their standards in recent months (highest rating of the year for both in fact). Pokemon beating the One Piece rerun doesn't really come as a surprise but I didn't expect Naruto to rank so high. Maybe it's the movie effect (upcoming movie for Naruto) ? Or the japanese knowing they wouldn't have their weekly dose of big week-end anime (Conan excepted) chose to watch something else. Or important episodes for both of these anime ? Inazuma and Smile Precure obviously rank a little higher than usual and Hunter x Hunter breaks into the Top 7. Behind we have a few NHK shows, one of which occasionnaly ranks a few times a year (Curious George) followed by 2 Tv Tokyo week-end shows. Sadly, both Uchuu Kyoudai and noitaminA fail to rank.

The Olympics perhaps ? If so Doraemon and Shin-chan should suffer the same fate the next 2 weeks, they escaped this time because they aired before the opening ceremony took place in London. Morning shows (One Piece, Toriko, Hunter x Hunter, SS Omega etc.) don't suffer nearly as much since they air when it's the middle of the night in London.

Atarashii Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2011	Second lowest ever, the lowest is 2.7%. And yeah, definitely not a good rating, especially when Space Brothers is 1% higher. It's weird that it's so low because as it airs in the morning I don't think it's up against the Olympics (unless the japanese networks broadcast reruns).
