The show is getting just as adorable as it was before, Konoha really turned to be a really likeable rival. The multi-faceted characters as well the nice plot flowing despite its genre makes its sophisticated sense of humor very worth looking at. In fact in this episode I've received a couple of chuckles, particularly during the rivalry between Mashiro and Konoha. I sense something serious happening though considering the series almost come to a end but not enough to clash some great drama in it. Really one of the greatest surprises this season for me!

I can see Benio helping Konoha in order to get rid of Hakuya for some reason.
I found it very amusing how Hakuya suddenly got ill when being shipped with Benio - understandable though.
On the other hand, if Benio suddely went after Hakuya we might get to see diffrent expressions from him from time to time

Konoha on the other end is probably in for immediate rejection and a battle between what she was taught/instaincts and her Benio fanatism.

I'd still be ok with "lady" Benio getting hit by a bus.. Looks like we might get a little love story progression. Kobeni seemed a bit shocked by that all but amazing marriage proposal , should be fun!

Well, if nothing else it may help give a teeny push to Kobeni. Maybe.

I wonder if Hakuya mentioning that neither Konaha nor Mashiro would see him was more than just a reference to the latter being dense and also reflecting some kind of super power (like invisibility or blending into surroundings a la Predator movie style camoflage) or some kind of highly developed skill (like moving silently or something)?

This ep was not as interesting as many of the others, but I feel it might prove to be the pivot for Kobeni to begin to struggle with herself and to step out on her own initiative with her own interests in mind. I certainly hope so. ^^

I do like Kobeni (albeit, unintentionally) telling Benio to go mind her own business. While Benio (for me) has never quite crossed the border from amusing into "someone get this freak out of my wonderful anime," I do think she's been rather overdue for having someone tell her off. Someone other than Nadeshiko, I mean: someone she'll listen to.

Presumably that's the purpose for this plot-twist. Just like Hakuya needed to realize that he might lose Kobeni if he didn't work to endear himself to her; Kobeni will now be forced to confront her feelings, determine if she really is falling for him, and take action.

I wonder if Hakuya mentioning that neither Konaha nor Mashiro would see him was more than just a reference to the latter being dense and also reflecting some kind of super power (like invisibility or blending into surroundings a la Predator movie style camoflage) or some kind of highly developed skill (like moving silently or something)?

I think he was just confident that his skills and powers would allow him to be stealthy enough to prevent them from seeing him. No invisibility, just superhuman agility and better training than those two and such.

It may not be one of the more interesting episodes, but it was a standout episode in near-constant comedic timing. Scenes flowed so well into each other and used all the characters to their max potential, that I found this episode to be the most consistently funny, with some highpoint (such as "evil Kobeni in Konoha's imagination", or the silent-shouting-noisy-wind scene.

I find this episode had the best comedic direction of all episodes so far. Even the annoying jokes (i.e. Benio's obsession) were funny this time round.

Oh ho? Well, I am glad. Just goes to illustrate how a good series can do several things at once?

Humor is a hard sell for me - but I think part of the reason may be that I have a sort of "default setting" and kind of think that when it as a bonus to a series it is most effective for me. As a result I don't notice similar thigs that you pointed out as often as others might. Guess I am kind of less sensitive to noticing such things.

Much of the humor in Mikakunin is fine for me and can make me smile or even chuckle, though, and I find I generally enjoy it. It is generally... umm... wackily warm hearted, I guess?

I don't notice these things that often, either. It's just that I caught myself laughing out loud, and that surprised me, since I never laugh out loud, and the show certainly isn't that funny. (Actually, I find Hoozuki funnier, this season.) The joke I laughed at wasn't memorable. I can't even remember when I laughed, but it wasn't the scenes I remember as the funniest.

Strange, no? So I started to pay attention. And sure enough: I'm almost certain it was the fast paced sequence of unobtrusive jokes that had a cumulative effect. (Or maybe not? I sometimes overanalyse.)

An example: The scene where Konoha and Mashiro talk, then Konoha asks about whether Mashiro's after Benio, and Mashiro just freezes. They don't linger on that shot too long, but long enough to let you get a feel for Konoha's discomfort and confusion. Then they immediately cut to Kobeni, who worries about them all (including Hakuya). There's the intersection. You get a reprise of the windy rooftop, and the first thing you see get is Kobeni's reaction. Only then you get to see that Mashiro is actually crying down there, and Hakuya intervenes. And plot happens.

It's a brilliant modulation of character point of view. There's a lot to process, but nothing particularly new (everybody behaves like they usually do), so it's not a bit confusing. And yet, somehow everything works towards that conclusion.

(I said "direction", but I really have no idea what it is. It's probably writer, director and story boarder working really well together. Art director, too. Oh, who am I kidding? I don't really know how anime are made. Does any know the episode director?)

Again, did anobody noticed Benio moving as the speed of sound (or teleporting) to be besides Kobeni, if that is normal she is in the same class as Sanae (monstrous human) from Ikamusume.

That aside, if we got a love triangle here , it would be awesome and no you can't count benio in it and say it was a love triangle from the start XD. I mean she has no other choice but to accept her sister's marriage. So the love triangle should be with that blondie soug..... I don't really know , Hakuya and Kobeni where Hakuya is the center.

Normally I would agree, but it is hinted twice in the OP sequence (when Benio and Mashiro are lifted but Kobeni not and when everybody is affected by a reverse gravity but Kobeni) that only Kobeni is normal, this episode her glasses friend was too sharp and the fact that student council vicepresident seems immune to Kobeni's RDF hint at there must be something more to these characters. Maybe this will be similar to Jitsu wa Watashi wa.

IMO the blonde will use the human card "Those humans will NEVER accept one of our kind in marriage, you are deluding yourself" <-- Then have an instant Hakuya KO, sadly chocolate will not revive him. Since there is no chance in hell blondie can legally marry Benio she is ok with fantasying about some one nighters.

This series doesn't have that kinda drama in it. The only reason weirdo even said marry me was cause of what her "mama" said. You imply too much and even if that card is pulled its probably only going to last for milliseconds

That's what's great about this show it doesn't need LONG drawn out plot devices to keep people loving this show.

Benio starting to run after Hakuya would be a lot of fun though, considering how he felt ill just from thinking about her.

Considering how she is not human herself its more the instinct to preserve her species, which is something she is is more likely to fight for than 'what mama said'

That being said, I still think she in for an instant rejection.
And even if she will pull that card, Hakuya will just say something like that he doesn't believe Kobeni to be like that.

The Benio card really is a one shotter for Hakuya and Mashiro. Just stating that they have any wish to get close to Benio is enough to annihilate them . Mashiro just driven to tears that only chocolate could help with .

Really well done how they rotated between the different characters and what they were doing. It had nice flow to it.

Also agree it's about time Benio took some mental damage. Might not have been Kobeni's intention, but that was purely satisfying to watch.

The whole proposal was pretty surprising. I guess drooling over Benio and marriage to someone really are two different things for her. Should be interesting to see how that unfolds. Certainly wouldn't be surprising if Hakuya just shut her down quickly. Though the more interesting part should be more of Kobeni's reaction. Certainly has been something where she hasn't needed to take much action and proceed at whatever pace is comfortable. Should be a good chance to really push Kobeni to think about her own feelings some more.
