Gakkou Gurashi
This sweet and fluffy moe comedy tells the tale of Yuki Takeya and her friends in the School Life club. These three girls and their adviser spend their after school hours having wacky fun and helping other students in what's sure to be one of the most heart warming series of the year. Spoiler for PSYCH!:

Utsuro no Hako, I don't think you should reveal that fact about Yuki. I know that that information revealed right in the first chapter, so in the anime it's gonna be revealed most likely in the first half of the first episode, but you still spoiling pretty big (and awesome) twist.
Kana Futayo, ahaha. She'll... fit like a glove, actually. |

The old film adage of have something unique to tell and it'd sell comes into play nicely here. Like the old Julie Christie film ''Memoirs of a Survivor'', of circa 1981, lone woman in a post- apolocytipc world etc.

To be fair, it's a Kirara Forward series, meaning that it's a) not a 4koma, and b) follows a more conventional narrative style as a result of being serialized in one big chunk every month -- see its magazinemate Dream Eater Merry for example.
I have a feeling that the choice for designs are deliberate, just to add to the disassociation factor. See how Yuri looks like Yuuko from A-Channel (another Manga Time Kirara series) for example.

Well, this series reminds me of Highschool of the Dead (takes place in Japan, zombie apocalypse, and high school kids fighting for survival). If I can compare Highschool of the Dead to George A. Romero's zombie films, then Gakkou Gurashi is more like Shaun of the Dead (since Shaun of the Dead is more light-hearted and comedic than most zombie films).
In other words, Gakkou Gurashi seems to be more lighthearted than Highschool of the Dead since it incorporates slice-of-life elements into a zombie apocalypse environment. I haven't went into too much detail in the manga, but do you think Gakkou Gurashu can be describe as "lighter and softer" version of Highschool of the Dead, or it just happens to be as equally depressing as Highschool of the Dead.

Hah, I was waiting for someone to bring up Shaun of the Dead, whose characters were primarily common joes and janes without any kind of combat training.
By comparison HSotD had a freaking gun otaku, a dojo heir, someone from a law enforcement family, and another one whose family led an extremist right-wing Nationalist group.

So yeah, if I can compare Highschool of the Dead to George A Romero films, then I can easily say that this series is more comparable to Shaun of the Dead. Will that be an accurate comparison?
