A doctrine is something open to individual's interpretation. Majority of KMM may have disapproved saving the Pz. III but that's it. How they saw sacrifice, or what they actually thought about that incident or their tactics and plenty of other factors cannot be gleaned from that one thing alone

Well the total weight with the Type 89 on the Maus is probably around 200 tons., but the Maus is still on the ground so the Hetzer wasn't taking the entire weight.
The weight of the Maus is destributed across the front on the Hetzer and the rear of the Maus. Plus I looked more carefully at it. The Maus was trying to back up, but probably couldn't get enough traction with the Hetzer continually driving into it. Now if the Type 89 has enough weight to top the turret motor from turning the turret? Maybe, though the Type 89 was also turning into the turret as well to push it back. One wouldn't think an engineer would overpower the Maus' motors to move more than it should by much. Enough so that moving the turret won't strain the motors, but adding 20% more weight against it might not be up to specs. The shot from the Panzer IV is not so iffy, though I wonder about how it got up there to make the shot while holding position like that. I would have thought they would have let the Type 89 down before the Hetzer withdrew, but she was under enough stress as it was without being driven over again. (Is Momo just that emotional, or did she have hay fever during the parade.)

The Little Army chapter focusing on Maho's team and Miho's tank battle reveals quite a bit on Kuromorimine and Nishizumi-ryuu actually. For example, Maho casually comments that a single loss out of ten thousand matches is enough grounds to get a student expelled. The looks of horror of her crew that followed were priceless. Also lots of asskissing.

OVA 6 = About 100 KMM students come begging for shelter at Oarai, saying they had been kicked out of KMM for losing. We get insights onto the mentality of the average KMM tanker... In the end, Anzu somehow pulls a few bureaucratic tricks and strings to transfer KMM's tank fleet to Oarai, much to Shiho's disgust - the new, strengthened Oarai tank team is formed. |

Watched the final episode today, and completely amazed on the amount of action. I thought Miho's Panzer IV would lose, then there would be still some way to save the school - but instead, they actually beat Maho's Tiger 1.
Bunny team take out two heavy tanks, before getting flagged. They did learn some things after all. Porsche Tiger could sure take some punishment before getting the flag out. It has been hit by the Maus, even before it fought multiple tanks. And lastly, volleyball team is always reliable. Too bad they didn't have much firepower. Hoping for a second season!

I'm going to guess the Porsche Tiger was the command model: the single one that was actually fielded, with the 200 mm frontal armor. Perfect for parking somewhere and holding the enemy at bay. Its biggest flaw is its unreliable engine: when it can just sit somewhere and hold a position, it's a freaking fortress.

There were an enormous amount of Awesome and Heartwarming scenes being played out in front of their eyes while they have been acting like doofuses. It is not surprising if by the end of the fight at least some of them were already thinking "I think I may have joined the wrong Tankery school." And then if Shiho gives them aggro post-fight, it is not hard to believe that they might say "[censored] this. I'm out of here" even before Shiho can fire them. And they find true happiness in Oarai. That's not such a bad ending, is it? |

Mind you, we see this in real life and business, and a great many other paradigms: it's not the purchase price that kills you, it's the maintenance. Also regards thoughts of sticking Miho in a Tiger for next year, I'm going to go on a limb and say that I think that isn't a good idea, because she and her crew are hell on treads with that Panzer IV Ausf G; that tank pretty much complements Miho's style. Something interesting that hasn't been commented on: the Volleyball Club were in senshado this year since they didn't have enough members for their club, and their aim was to drum up publicity so that they could have a Volleyball Club next year. Except that, as the sun sets, they decide to do senshado again next year. Assuming they're 2nd-years like Kampfegruppe Miho, that means that they're giving up on their goal - reviving the Volleyball Club - for the senshado team. That's rather touching.

Keep in mind that by the time we have new people in the school, it would have been a new school year and most tank crews other than Rabbit would be in their final year. The Turtle team by then would have graduated. The setting of a highschool is strict like that. You only really have 3 years to tell a story.
