Its precisely because K-On is so heartwarming and idealistic that it is hated by cynical people who are so pessimistic that they cannot stomach anyone else being happy or feeling hope towards life.

I say they should all collectively jump into a volcano and rid the human gene-pool of their negativity; so idealists and people who DO care and believe can have an easier time making the world a better, nicer place.

All the hate towards K-On isn't because it's bad (usually), it's because it's so out-of-proportionally popular that it drains sales away from other animes. It's understandable that people don't approve of it, because other companies don't get as much money, and it's kind of pandering to the otaku demographic for money.

Then maybe these critics should spend a bit more to keep up with their otaku counterparts. They apparently seem to think just buying the BDs/DVDs will help keep the industry afloat, while the otaku realized long ago that the true profits lies in selling merchandise (aside the anime media itself).

You could say that these otaku are more of a fan than these critics are, even if they do choose all the 'wrong' shows.

Well if it helps I'm saving up for the movie (yes, and fly to Japan for the premiere) as well as the last volume of the LE BDs.
