Happened to be up very late so I decided to catch the stream. I thought it was quite good despite having missed a chunk of the middle part.
Spoiler for episode:
The OP looks like it should be very pretty visually. Can't judge the song cause of keyhole quality. ED song seemed nice until Koeda hit the high notes. |

Not sure if I like the new OP and ED better than the old one just yet, but we'll see.
Spoiler for episode 13:
Also, the 4koma shows the new Tsugumi Team!

haha yeah ayase basically just became Lenalee Lee from dgm. I loved there lil pose after they destroyed the mecha too, i couldnt help but chunkle since it was pretty corny.
the new op isnt bad but the ED is blah, i liked the old one better (visually as well). so anyway now we have the trapped in this Loop 7 area without food or any communication. Kinda sucks that now we have to wait through X amount of eps for em to just get out of this quarantined area. Next ep seems like they get this gauge meter that one of the mob guys dropped. Not sure what it would measure, prolly something to do with voids. Bring on next week

Think my first thought is to do with the new OP. 'My Dearest' was a quality song in it's own right (and the visual were just as good) - and it's replacement, 'The Everlasting Guilty Crown', is right up there as well. The visuals exceeded expectations. It seems to be almost a giveaway as to how any romantic notions will end - but if anyone can tell me a time when Shu has looked so impressive (and acted so much like Gai, who, despite being 'dead', has a few secs in the new OP), I'll be amazed. Seriously, the kid who seemed so bloody awkward at the start seems to be returning to the way he used to be. Long may that continue
To the episode itself... Can't say I'm surprised that the person most hung up about Gai's death would be Ayase. After all, we all knew she was infatuated with him considering what he did for her, and extremely frustrated that she could not do any more to keep him alive (pretty much beating herself up over it) - so much so that she would have rather died. Obviously it will take a while for her to get over such a loss in her life, but at least, partly thanks to Shu, she is starting to come to terms with it and can begin to move on. Regarding the battle - they could not have been any more cheesy with the pose following the battle. Rule of cool works it's magic again, eh? Though really, it was a great thing to see what Ayase's Void was - and whilst, yet again, it feels somewhat convenient, it is more than understandable that such a Void would come out of her. Could almost say that it's a heartwarming moment within this episode - for someone who is wheelchair bound to be able to get up and 'stand' on their own (not literally, of course), to be able to move freely with nothing holding them back. Oh, and the person in charge of music outdid themselves when it came to the OST for this episode - that was brilliant in every way. The logic behind attacking the cultural festival felt somewhat flawed to me at first - though when you're looking at it from one side (the side of those participating in the festival), it starts to make sense when you look at it from the other perspective. Lockdown, little food to go around, and some kids are using a decent amount of it up for a 'festival'?! I can understand why people would be angry from that, especially when they're on the outside looking in. Just to finish off, we get the shock news that the entire area would be in lockdown for as long as 10 years (which is of the result of more lies - yes, I'm sure there's no-one inside the area that isn't affected by the Apocalypse Virus ). Absolutely loved the episode from start to finish - the fact that Shu is starting to improve emotionally and not be the awkward idjit we saw for much of the first half of the series. More of the same please, Shu |

I liked this episode a lot. It was nice and mellow after the past couple episodes, but it served a lot of purpose and there was actual character development. I love the new OP (particularly the visuals), and it really renewed my interest in seeing just where they're going to go with the series from here. |

The new OP sounds great, though I still do love Dearest quite a bit more.
I do like the new ED better though. I wonder if the staff has switched from the trend of using the ED to convey the overal result of the episode to showing what is to come; if so then Shu's friends disappearing one by one isn't quite a good sign, though the ED ends with Inori getting Shu back on his feet, and then Shu taking the lead. Though I'm inclined to think all that is over-thinking it; it's probably just generic ED ainmation and not a change-by-episode thing like the first ED. I guess we'll see next episode. Ayase flag RAISED! A chance encounter between Tsugumi and Daryl?! Normal anime tradition would dictate this to be the beginning of some form of relationship between the two, especially given Daryl's noticeable fixation on her in his last scene in the episode. (whether it be friendship, rivalry, or romance) Well, it looks like those two punks who tried to molest (yes, molest >.>) Ayase this episode come back next episode with (more than >.>) a few more friends in the next episode preview.

However, all in all, you have a good valid point - and I couldn't agree more with what you're saying (in every sense). |

well it was convenient in the sense that it was exactly what she needed. She lost her mecha and cant walk, most ppl with common sense knew when shu drew out her void it was going to be something that would let her fight/move.

Dat OP. The song is great, and the animation is even better. It reminded me why I had originally liked GC in the first place. I love how both the OP and the ED promote a certain pairing ~ <3
As for the episode itself, I loved it; this episode basically redeemed the show for me. I wasn't too fond of the last few episodes but now I can't wait for more ~ |

Think this one feels less convenient in the sense that we didn't know exactly what was going to come out of Ayase's soul (as you say, we had an idea based on her own overriding desire to feel like she can walk again, but what that manifested into was somewhat unknown) - unlike the rest where Gai literally spoonfed Shu so that the agenda of Funeral Parlor could be completed. By the way, here's the 2nd OP in all it's HD glory. |

interesting episode. Shu being an emo and Ayase wasn't helping at all. Well everyone was feeling up the death of Gai and the events that happen 2 weeks prior which is the second lost christmas event. Tsugumi was the only one who is moving forward and also maybe Inori but maybe she is just as expressionless as always that's why I said that. Ayase was still shunning away the help of others but that's already been said before. She wants to stand on her own and doesn't want pity. The current situation in overall is bad with the whole tokyo in lock down and the communications was cut off. And everyone was being in the edge because of this and to lighten it up. A cultural festival was a good idea the character development for this episode was good and we also see that Segai was still around and even Daryl was snooping around and being all tsun tsun -_- The climax of the episode is the attack of militia or rebels which was tricked or played by Segai into attacking the school but Ayase and Shu saved the day. And I will also agree that Ayase's void is pretty normal. I think it's a void that lets you glide or maybe fly. And it also allows Ayase who wants to walk the most the ability to walk. And I can see it now that the second part of GC would be not a single endlave and void against an army but funural parlor equip with void against the army which is Japan because that old guy isn't really giving up and now the president of Japan. And they totally lock down tokyo with huge walls. This reminds me of darker than black thing >.> And with this Shu would be back in action.
Nice episode

Liked the new OP and ED. Daryl and Tsugumi make a good team. Figures Ayase would be hurt the most, not surprised she blames herself as well. Leave it to Segai to start the party. Ayase's void is perfect for her. Looks like Shu was happy to use his power again. Wonder how they'll explain that to everybody who was watching.
Wonder what Keido is planning now. ow were they able to construct a wall in 2 weeks to cover the whole loop 7 area? Looks like the fight isn't over, but how are they going to get in touch with the other funeral parlor members now that they are completely isolated.

I suppose I should've notcied this before but I think we actully got a hint that Tsugumi might be an AI what with that "millibyte" comment, though it could just be her personality.
Anyway, it was a great Ayase episode. I had the stupidest grin on my face watching Ayase own those clowns with those legs. This time the void whilst once again convenient for the plot (in this case for her character development), isn't quite so contrived since it would make sense that her void would be that (though to be honest I was expecting a mini Endlave). Too bad the writers felt the need to confirm the canon ship in that new OP. It's like they read the boards and realised everyone was desperately trying to ship Shu with anyone but Inori so they decided to kill it once and for all. And I never fucking liked Daryl as a character. This is just a stupid twist that you'd expect from a fanfic writer who's a Daryl fan (assuming they actually go ahead and make him a good guy). And wasn't the timing of that announcement at the end sooo perfect? Tsugumi picked, like, just the right time somehow.

Undercover tsun tsun megane Daryl? lol
I really liked Ayase's void in this episode, which made me really comfortable with the changes of Shu's powers (would've been mentally scarred seeing Shu use those void boots). Bad guys in this episode seriously sucked so seeing them getting owned made my day. Gotta admit even I was making the kind of grin I'd make when watching TTGL after seeing Ayase and Shu's 'double team winning pose'... *facepalm* Great OP, loving it even more than the previous one. Not liking the ED much though. I'm not expecting much for this second-half of the series, but enjoying it fairly enough as it is for now. |
