episode 5:
why not just tell the soldiers about the elevator they used? So the soldiers can escort them back to the building, and they can all get out of there. lots of creepy monsters this time..

But as far as they know (first time they've been otherside at night) they don't know where they are and given the soldiers crossed over in Okinawa they could be a long way from where the building is and have to find another way back (like they did in an earlier episode).

I was glad to find out Kozakura made them apologize for basically abandoning her. Not only does she look 10 years younger than her actual age (not that I know it, but since we know she finished college, we can take a guess), she can also eat for 10.
Drunk Toriko was cute, but thankfully she sobered up real fast when she realized what was going on. And yes, my mind went there too when I saw how many more soldiers were at the camp. But with the author being a hardcore yuri fan, it won't go there. I'm curious to find out what the soldiers have been eating to survive on the Otherside, since I don't recall spotting anything that could be eaten since the show started. There was a vending machine with some stuff in it at the station, so maybe there are abandoned supermarkets full of food or something? Or maybe they packed a lot of rations.

It could be that their training involved camping for several weeks, in which case they likely brought food with them, and then they started rationing it to make it last longer. That or they found a source of food somehow. Also water could be an issue.
Anyway what are the chances that these soldiers will survive now that they have met the main characters?

There is no way they would come out "safely" in this situation.

Hassaku hat seems to be the instant way of going to the Otherside, you just have to put it on.

Got to give props to the writers: they actually did something right in portraying the military, a rare occurrance in anime. They did (or the translator did) refer to every group as a 'squad' but when they went into the tent to see the commander there were flags there, which means it is at least a battalion Headquarters. And yes a major was in command: normally a lieutenant colonel would be in command but, as the major stated, they have suffered casualties and the original commander was one of them.
I hope the girls will return and interact with the Marines again; maybe they can help them come home.

I wonder who the blame for that phone thing should lie on: Toriko for suggesting to use it or the soldier for not giving a more concrete warning.
While those soldiers did overact to the eye, I hope they aren't just left on the other side like that.

I rolled my eyes when the girls used their phones immediately after being warned not to, but IMO the blames lies on Lt Suwabe. He should have told them phones attract monsters and should have confiscated them for good measure. And not giving them a body inspection because they have no female soldiers anymore? Such gentlemen.
I'm glad they let us know Kozakura was fine at the end of the ep. The guys in charge seem to have a good head on their shoulders, the guy who panicked after seeing Sorawo's eye was the same grunt who kept suspecting them of being monsters. Coming back would be a gamble.

Ah yes, brilliant story. Calling on the phone brings up a generic phantom monster, but the army doesn't explain that and the girls don't heed their warning either. But hey, I guess that's a way of avoiding getting raped...?
Also, having heterochromia is a sign that you aren't human, apparently. Sheesh.

Are you sure that it's the phone that attracted the monster? I think the two events are unrelated. The advice to not use the phone was probably just because it's pointless as both the caller and the receiver just get creepy stuff and don't actually communicate with each other.
I think that if the girls tried to explain the situation they would have probably managed to reason with the soldiers, the guy that freaked out after seeing the eye had always been paranoid since the beginning, but the commander was a reasonable person plus they have just saw them killing one of the "wild things". Would they really have decided to give up on their best shot at escaping that hell just because of fear? Anyway, I'm pretty sure that those soldiers will be left there just like that. Sorawo and Toriko didn't seem the least worried about them, they won't even contact the Okinawan base to tell them that they found the missing batallion and share their knowledge about the other side so that they could attempt a rescue.
