I hope that the AI will be upgraded to support this. There were times in CoH 1 when the individuals within a squad position themselves in less than advantageous positions. With this different approach to line of sight, AI's must also be set so that the infantrymen will try to watch all corners when standing by or on patrol, but focus on a target when in combat (which makes them ripe for flanking maneuvers).

Very interesting.
I DO hope them talking about wanting to focus on the smaller things in the game doesn't mean that COH2 will be downgraded in engagement scale the same way DOW 2 was. Though I suppose with this new LOS system, the game might be nuanced enough that you could get away with making it a small tactics game.

Do take note that the campaign in CoH also pretty much featured Able Company for the majority of the story, and featured many "small scale" battles like the second mission and the raid on the V2 facility. I think "smaller things" refers to just the storytelling perspective here, instead of the gameplay.

No, I'm just talking about how in DOW2, besides your commander, you were limited to picking 3 squads...and they weren't really *squads*. They were 3 special characters who happened to have walking ablative health bars hovering around them.

And what I'm saying is that given the screenshots we're seeing, that we very likely won't be seeing DoW2 style Hero-led super squads being implemented in CoH2. At worst, we might get something like Retribution, which was as close to the CoH formula as DoW2 got.

You had hero named characters who had incredible and special abilities...and they had ablative health points that hovered around them waiting to die Also, liking the sound of COH 2 more and more.
