I love them.

I'm excited to get my hands on the DVD box shipping late this month too!

Those cards would probably be good animated like the Lucky Star ones were.

Awesome. Mio and Mai's are so adorable. Maybe I could use one as my avatar.

My Nichijou "Director's Cut" DVD boxset came in. I'm posting pictures for informative purposes:

Exterior:

Front (Does anyone know what the pink sticker reads? It was on the outside plastic.)
Back
Box Side
Disc Side
Top
Bottom

Interior:

Media cover front
Media cover back

Main Nichijou disc set:

Disc 1
Disc 2/ Disc 3
Pamphlet (paper to left of Disc 1)

Special/"Bonus" disc:

Inside
Postcards 1 & 2 (drawn by Nano's seiyuu and Yuuko Aioi's seiyuu respectively/left-to-right)
Postcard 3 (drawn by Keiichi Arawi)

=============================================

Overall, I like the packaging, though I'm not fond of the green strip stating "DVD BOX". I mean, it was going to be typed somewhere, but still...

It seems the bonus footage is the two seiyuu, Mariko Honda (Yuuko) and Shizuka Furuya (Nano), simply messing around under the sun. I would be bothered by this if I wasn't in love with the voice work in Nichijou. Anyways, I'm very glad I have this set as it's the only media I will have until Madman and this mystery Western licencor (hopefully) pull through next year.

Does anyone know why the American license was canceled? And no one picked it back up?

In terms of why it was cancelled, it was due to Bandai Entertainment, the company that was originally going to release it in America, discontinuing operations in America.

If we're astoundingly lucky, someone could get the license from Bandai, but companies hold on to the things for years...

Bandai has already returned their licenses to the original production companies they licensed the shows from. As of right now, someone may have the license to sell Nichijou in NA, but may not be allowed to release it on BD at the moment and have decided to wait until they can release it in HD prior to announcing said license. (Spoke with NISA at the 2012 Anime Expo and they believe someone has the license in NA, but they could be wrong)

They do hold the license in Australia, but they've been sitting on their hands until recently as they were waiting on a dub that was never going to come and they've recently announced a March release for the first part of the series.

I wonder what price theyll want for it. I hope Kadokawa doesnt want the $1000 for 26 episodes they demanded in Japan... T-T

I'm guessing that you missed the AUS$59.95 or currently US$63.33 price tag for that set

Yeah I did. Oops.

Which episode is it where Mio has a dream about marrying Sasahara on his goat, and she's wearing a bride's dress and says "I do" in English?

First episode. And she said "Me too", not "I do".
