Metropolis of music, MIDICITY. A kitty girl wearing gothic lolita clothing named Cyan is scouted by Maple Arisugawa, the president of a music agency. From there, she meets Chuchu (a pun off of the sound that rabbits make) the honor student rabbit girl, a net geek dog girl named Retoree (from "Retriever"), and an alien sheep (?) girl named Moa. Together, they form the band named "Plasmagica," and aim for the top of the world.

However, the path there is long and tough, and keeping in high spirits is important. By battling against other strange bands, Plasmagica slowly grows toward a top-grade band. In the end, they'll be a band that becomes the driving force of MIDICITY's music industry... Maybe?

How many music-themed anime we're getting these days? They're so numerous I'm guessing it starts losing a bit of appeal because of hits like K-On! and other similar shows that drives the industry into madness. I'm still watching that kind of genre regardless, reading the synopsis sounds like Bakumatsu Rock so I'll enjoy it for the visuals and music.

Hmm ... to be honest it looks kinda ... silly.

For now will wait to see what other info pops up, I guess, but....

Off the top of my head for this season? Well, Cross Ange supposedly has singing for the mecha, but I doubt that's what you'd call a "music-themed anime".

Honestly though, I don't see the saturation of music-themed anime.

The mobile phone rhythm game has a couple of different bands featured, and this just happens to be one of them. I'm not sure if they all compete against each other (probably) in the game or what. I'd have to go check out the site again. I hope the other band I liked gets added to the anime as well.

Nooo...

I mean, I know there are agencies and whatnot, but casting people should really expand their horizons. Give me Suzumura Kenichi! Or hell, Kishio Daisuke, he did an awesome parody of the JRock/Vkei type singing as Kurama in Kamisama hajimemashita. (Was Kurama's song ever released?)

Anyway, what's up with the animal motifs? Looking at the two bands, the girls' bunny/kitty/sheep(? a ram??) parts look like accessories, but the guys seem to have actual ears and tails...

ETA:
Bunny girl's guitar is called Antique Batman. Yes, I think this is going to work.

Also, I just realized that blonde girl is called Retrie because she's supposed to be a golden retriever, with her hair as the floppy ears.
