Kazuma from Kaze no Stigma is pretty bad-ass. Other than his little brother Ren, he'll tear apart anything or anyone that gets in his way.

He was actually protagonist, which the complete opposite of being an antagonist.

I'd have to personally chime in for Maestro Delphine of Last Exile as well. Also, Suigintou of Rozen Maiden. Speaking of which, anyone else think Suigintou's been turning into more of a dark magical girl archetype in the later parts of the anime?

Hmm, interesting thread.

Males:

1. Lord Genom from Gurren Lagann - his speech to Simon at episode 17.
"I haven't had this much fun in a long time brat. Now return to the soil!!"

Females:

1. Rena Ryugu from Higurashi (season 1) - she is practically the main antagonist on season1 imo, she's creepy but cool.

"Why do you lie to me Keichi Kun? I wonder, I wonder?"

2. Hecate from Shakugan no Shana - I think she does a good job of being an antagonist on Shana's second season.

The one that's most fascinating and well-developed and also one of the most EVIL individuals in anime is Yagami Light from Death Note. Sephiroth is also a good choice though.

Yeah, don't know what I was thinking... I think I misread antagonist as protagonist for some strange reason. I don't know. My mind acts wacky at times...

I'm not sure you could call 'em antagonists or villains, but i give my vote(s) for Ladd Russo and Claire Stanfield from Baccano.

Style to the limit ;3

Legato Bluesummers: A very creepy guy and probably one of the more competent villains I've seen. I also thought he made a nice contrast to Vash and out of all the characters probably tested Vash's philosophy the most, being a human being who is almost completely lacking in humanity.
