I was a little surprised that they showed his return in the preview. I would have held off on that particular detail to save as a surprise. Or maybe they felt that most viewers were getting impatient about his return and needed to be reassured it was coming?

I wouldn't be surprised if Arthur isn't the only one returning.

As for the ED, hate is such a harsh word. I just believe that old things, who has enjoyed its glories for so long, should make way for new ones. :P

Besides, I get wet translating lyrics. :3

finally caught up after missing a couple of episodes and I gotta say the animation is still top notch and loving it. And lmao, I laughed hard at the Rathty missile. I wished that happened in the game XD

Actually I think Gaius wasn't so stupid when he decided to conquer the Gael before fighting the Empire
He's not seeking justice or reforming the Empire, he want to become king and build his own nation from the foundation the Empire created, a good one, but not just anyone's, he wanted it to be his, this was hinted by the conversation with Arawn when they first met.
Putting aside the trouble some part that is convincing the Gael to believe him, if he were to cooperate with the Gael, his force will be just refugees or at least territory-less if they don't want to be absorbed into the Gael or Bringantes, because the port and bases are allied with the Empire while the land around either belong to the Brigantes or the Gael, and sure as hell the Gael/Brigantes wont accept him as the leader of the alliance if they actually agreed to partner up with him, Arawn's charisma would be a thorn in his side.
Thus he need to take out the Gael's leadership, then taking over Avalon, make it his first fortress and assimilate the survivor into his faction; subduing the Brigantes wouldn't be so hard after gaining such a foothold. Arawn in a coma is his perfect chance to do this.

lol.. it looked like they were laying await for Arthur to show up again since his last visit and to make favorable impression. And yes, someone give him a horse. He can work on his cardio after the crisis is over.

Episode 17 wasn't too bad, but episode 18..... oh boy... the preview indicates very good animated movement for the episode. Plus, all the dramatics that will be taking place. I've been salivating for a while now. I can't wait to see Arwan wake up.

We'll probably never get a definitive answer on how long Brigantes has been ready for mobilization. But I wouldn't be surprised if they haven't been preparing since Taliesin first learned about Arawn's return to Avalon. I'm sure Taliesin wanting to know more about Arawn prompted his sudden appearance at the Gael hunting camp in that early episode. Brigantes has probably been preparing for battle ever since that day since it seemd likely they would be pulled into one side or the other of the upcoming conflict.

They were the biggest tribe there, so its no surprise since if not for gael they would have been the target sooner or later.

I agree with your assessment. As soon as the empire has tragetted this little tribe, it should have put every other tribe on the alert. It still didn't mean those tribe could have stood up to the empire until now. Arthur's group has accomplished extraordinary things thus far, so Brigantes is wise to take the chance for reform by teaming up with Arthur.

edit: looks like Cats is also on similar line of thoughts.

came back here after such a long time

these recent episodes have made me doubt about the main protagonist of the show! I mean it was all Arthur Arthur.......... & Arthur!

(although I really don't mind that... since HE is my favorite character

) and watching these recent episodes carefully, it seems to me that Arthur has a better chance with Awran than any of Awran's wives

. Hints: Awran still waiting... (for who?

) ...Awran asking Pwyll "But what about the most important person?" ...

Coming to my opinion about the recent episodes: 15, 16 & 17... I think they were really cool, although I found episode 17 somewhat slow. I mean Arthur took so much time just to get to the Brigantes tribe's area. But that's no surprise... coz he was running on his feet

I do agree about the horse part... I was thinking about the same thing when I was watching episode17.

Well, hopefully episode 18 will be more interesting as Arthur charges along with the Brigantes against Gaius's troops and Arthur & Gaius seems to have a battle too... and of course the demon king will return as well

Just seen ep 18

Spoiler for ep 18:

As Gaius troops march into the city, Octavia & Morgan have a brief moment together in the inner wall where Octavia gives Morgan a necklace with a red coral with her name on it while she has the same necklace but with Morgan's name on it as the sign of their friendship. (Awww.) This also counts as a Les Yay moment since they both later hold hands together!

Meanwhile, Arthur & the Brigantes meet up with Ogam who's with the rest of the Gaels that Octavia & Morgan left behind. When Arthur gives Ogam his answer on what they talk earlier, Ogam is impress & declares he is worthy to be a King and puts his troops under Arthur's command as they march to Avalon.

Back at Avalon, the Gaels continue to defend the inner wall from Gaius troops while Rathy & Llyr try to get rid of the fire cause by the fireball catapults (Epona is helping them, by selling them special berries that restore their HP & MP lol

) and the House Elves... cooked dinner. (

Why are you cooking at a time like this?) When Gaius troops are about to break into the inner wall gates using a battering ram, the Gaels retreat to the final wall of the main castle of the city.
As Gaius troops march to the last gate, like the wind, Arthur and his troops march into Avalon speedily surrounding Gaius troops! Realizing that he's surrounded, Gaius orders his 2nd in command, Decitus to face off Arthur men while he try's to break into the last gate. As Arthur get's closer to the where Gaius troops are, he scream for Arwan to answer him. Gaius tells him to shut up(Thanks Gaius.) until something blast the last gate including the battering Ram.

It's Arwan who has finally awaken, which his wife Riannon runs to hug him when Gaius runs to slash him with his big sword! (silly woman! Didn't you see the big man with the bid sword!?) But his sword strike is stopped by none other than Arthur! As both Arthur & Gaius fight each other, Arwan tells Gaius on why he's not interested to go Regius to become King and why Gaius will die if he goes there when they first meet. Then it hits him when Gaius remembers what Regius means..."Little King" (or is it Young King?)

Arwan is not going to Regius to become King, Arwan want to bring Arthur to Regius to make him the King! Realizing that his dreams for the empire is challenge, he fights Arthur to see if he's worthy to be King. As they fight with both of them getting injured in the process, Arthur finally strikes Gaius the final blow which cause everyone on both sides to stop fighting. As he goes down on his knees, Gaius tells Arwan he regrets he didn't make Arwan his ally in the first place
and ask him to let go of most his men. Arwan decide that it's Arthur's decision to which he agrees to let go of Gaius troops. Decitus arrives to Gaius side and wants to avenge him but Gaius tells him to stop since it's over and he tells him to tell the rest of the men to surrender. Decitus, with tears in his eyes, obeys his Commanders last command and was honor to serve him. As Gaius finally, takes his last breath, he tells Arthur to make his dream come true, to make the wolrd a free and better place. After that, he finally dies.

At the Senate, the senators mock on what happen to Gaius but now are convince of the threat Avalon possess. All of a sudden, a man with white hair & white cloths(similar to the man who killed Arthur's father!) arrives who they recoginze as the Emperor adviser. But he tells him the Emperor is dead and starts to use magic to burn everyone around him.

Spoiler for Ps3 - anime comparison: In the game Gaius doesn't manage to destroy the gate but is getting close to do it. The part with Myrddin, Pwyll and Primula is much shorter, though the key concepts are the same. When Arthur pleads Taliesin, the theme song (not the game ending) "Tears to Tiara" (sung in English) can be heard, the discussion is similar. The repel of the forces on the walls is done via a series of battles but the outcome is the same. There's a dialogue between Octavia and Morgan about the upcoming battle during the night. Arawn is never shown in bed. Gaius does the same speech about wanting a better country but doesn't kill the delator (who is never shown in the game, he's just referenced).

Enemy of enemy =/= friend Spoiler for PC spoiler about Avalon: Since the anime seem to skipped over this detail: No matter how many sieg weapons were used against Avalon, the castle walls, enchanted magically, couldn't be destroyed, and taking down the gate was the only way to take over it. Thus Gaius was impressed and really wanted to take over the castle to use it as his headquarter/first base . He cant revolve without a good fort and territory. I kinda wish he would survive and join them but alas it didn't happen. Looks like Arthur will play a special role in later events since he going to become King(and hopefully Octavia as his Queen!)
