It's risky, but I don't think anything will be "ruined" unless the results are disappointing, and even then you could always refuse to acknowledge the sequel or simply consider it as an independent story in your mind.

Like people tend to do with Eureka 7 AO. Folks still like the original series despite questioning how AO messed up the timeline (and that property is also getting movie recaps/remakes now, curiously enough). Either way, we don't even know if it'll be a "third season" yet or any specifics about the premise.

That's fair, taking the studio's production schedules into account. They haven't shown any real footage from the movies yet. As a side note, I am glad they're not officially using the term "R3" for this.

Actually, I would say both personal anecdotes and the few available statistics tend to suggest otherwise. Most people are fine with the ending and that's part of why there are doubts about the need to make a sequel.

Three recap movies, (first coming October 21th, second 2/2018, third 5/2018) a spinoff Suzaku/Kallen manga coming this fall and...should we wait for R3 somewhere next summer? Either way, CG bosses delivered quite a lot of stuff to look forward to.

Next fall more likely. They are starting R1\R2 rebroadcast this October, which means 50 weeks of original before the R3. Also considering R1 takes place in 2017 and R2 in 2018 and Lelouch dies on 28th or September - I'm pretty sure they are doing this on purpose.

The last episode of R2 aired on 28th September 2008, the date of Lelouch's death in-universe was never stated. Of course they are in all likelihood doing a Fall 2018 release on purpose. But not due to the reason you stated, but due to Fall 2018 linking up to the exact 10-year anniversary of the last Code Geass episode.

That's what I meant. I was under the impression they are going to end rebroadcast the same date as the original broadcast.

Also watched the movie over the weekend in the theater. I really enjoyed it. I haven't watched R2 since it stopped airing, so seeing all the characters again was nice. I do recommend watching the recap movies since this movie follows the events that apparently transpired in those.

I knew that Shirley is alive, but the Knight of Rounds too? Very nice. They were wastefully killed off in season 2. Glad the movies changed that.

I'm so glad that there will be another decade of Code Geass projects.

Pretty decent I think. It feels like fanservice (in the sense of being a party for existing CG fans) overall but it's left open-ended enough that they could launch a new series continuing from this if they wanted.

The overall plot feels to me more like Mao and C.C's plot back in R1, IE C.C putting to rest one of her lost sheep from the Geass cult. Virtually everyone shows up in one way or other but it's really C.C's story as well as (obviously) Lelouch's more than anything else.


The movie thread itself is locked but I'll say this though.....the main plot points in the World of C were quite confusing. C.C reviving Lelouch was straightforward enough....but what happened with Shamna and C.C as well as the blockage in the World of C was rather unclear

For starters, who was that blocking the flow of World of C? Shamna or Charles? At first it looked like it was Charles trying to consume Lelouch....but later it looked like that dark orb is Shamna. And how long has Shamna been in there? Lelouch's put her to sleep plan was only around half a day long but she speaks with C.C as if she had been there for centuries long before the events of the movie. Did she spend countless loops fighting for her brother or is she simply that old?

And when C.C says she should let go, what impact did that have? Did Shamna do anything as a result? All we see is some warped scene of Shalio meeting her after he is physically killed followed by the blockage dissolving and.....something saving Lelouch and Nunally followed by the rain of shooting stars after the bomb in the temple goes off.







On another note, Lelouch was pretty lucky Shamna went momentarily dumb there. The most natural thing to do when she heard that Lelouch potentially had the same Geass was to immediately off herself and from then on operate on that premise, adapting as required while waging a time travel war. Instead she lost her weapon and got subdued.

By any note, is there too much fanservice in this movie? When I first watched season 2 and Akito the Exiled I felt that Sunrise wanted to add as much female fanservice as possible.

Not much. At least I barely registered any. Yukana's voice was the biggest fanservice for me actually...seriously, her C.C and Hokusai voices are so similar. Kept hearing Hokusai's Noble Phantasm lines in my head each time C.C spoke

I actually haven't seen any of the Recap movies nor Agito since the main anime finished airing years ago so I am relying on my rusty decade old memory on who's who and what's what, and I remember my younger self didn't really had such ecstatic reaction on CC's character. But now I saw this movie, oh god CC is so...

Aside from the outfits of some henchmen and maybe one or two scenes of a naked body, I don't remember nothing too out of the ordinary for the series.

The the BD for this is out now. Now we just have to wait for any info on the picture dramas that came with them.
