Can you give a link to the chapter in question that stated they are engaged? Try as hard as I can, I still can't find it. Or is it from the LN?

That and HS DxD EX don't count as Spin-Off stories since they're still technically canon to the main story. An actual Spin-Off wouldn't be.

And yeah, A la Carte is as much a "Spin-Off" to Shokugeki no Soma as HS DxD EX is to HS DxD. Does that answer your question? It's not part of the main story since it's a side-story, but it's still considered canon because otherwise we couldn't take something from it and talk like it's canon in the main story (like Alice and Kurokiba being engaged).

Well, the Avatar in the original series, Aang, wasn't bi (he was straight; he even had a wife and three kids). The only bi Avatar we know of so far is Korra.

Oh yeah. That story.
Senzaemone was the one who decided to pick Alice's fiance at the age of 8.
There were many candidates and the winner of a cook of was supposed to be Alice's fiance.
So Alice made Kurokiba parcitipate and he defeated them all with ease.
He wasnt officially declared as her fiance but he still did when in the cook off that was meant to choose her fiance. Hence why they are considered engaged.

So it's not impossible for Erina to have one. Maybe two due to conflict between Senzaemon and Azumi lol (Yeah Im trolling. Partially...).

I think Senzaemon wants Souma to marry Erina. And now that Azami knows that he's Jouichirou's son, he'll probably consider it too.

The new cover does not make sense, at least for me. I don't see the point of adding Rindou in the middle, heck, even Isshiki would have made more sense considering how he was planing some stuffs behind the scene.

Yeah she only played a minor role in the shokugeki. Doesn't makes sense to put her center stage like she's the protagonist of the volume.

She is. A while back, the author tweeted of her huge popularity with the readers, together with Momo.

I think both of them are a shoo-in for a top 10 (or maybe top 5) place in the next popularity poll, should there be one.

Eishi and Yugi should be popular characters, as well, by virtue of them appealing to the Fujoshi crowd.

well, it is good that they have always left much to Rindou since his first appearance love to many it, this proves that the author gives priority to the characters that fans want to see, although they should have equality with Shokugeki girls not soma, but also I think that give priority, for the breasts so as somehow okay.
