They really seem to be trying to save up time for something, maybe more anime original content or going in depth with Shirou's conflict with Archer? Who knows.

No real complaints about the episode, other than Lancer vs Archer feeling rushed.

My first ever criticism in this adaptation, Caster's death felt rushed.

I bet there were stuff cut, again. Kinda annoying, it feels like we're being robbed but at least there's stuff to look forward to for the BD.

Were there any news of anything being cut from the episode?

All the other episode in the 2nd cour had stuff cut, one even had a whole of 7 minutes of cut content!

So yes, the chance is very high. Actually 2 scenes seemed a bit weird, which is when Kuzuki pushed Shirou against the wall and when Saber saved Shirou from the swords. It looks as if there was something cut at those 2 scenes.

I feel like Caster's death scene was cut too, it just felt so rushed.

I don't remember Caster's death being anything special in the VN. Suddenly just swords come down, she protects Souchirou, she and her hubby exchange a small few words and she disappears. It was sudden in all meanings of that word.

Agreed, I've always thought her demise was already terribly sudden and anti-climatic in the Visual Novel, so I would say this is just a case of ufotable being faithful to the original in an instance where they could have perhaps tweaked the scene a little to make it more powerful and memorable.

Still, I'm not too bothered. Caster was a decent mid-boss, but her and Kuzuki's story was never terribly interesting to me and they ultimately felt like they were there mostly to pad out the route until we got to the meat of the story, which is what will take place starting next week. So in a way, I'm glad we're done with the appetizers and can finally move on to the main dish.

good episode.
rho aius was sweet.

lol @ Rin beating up Caster, even magic-reinforced, almost beating down a servant by herself.

Even if we were shown a trained assassin like kuzuki could do it

Are there still people who didn't connect the dots to Archer's identity yet?

Yes, it is still a bit of a leap to make. Nothing which has been shown yet about Servants indicates that they can be summoned from the future. Only because we already know his identity do the hints become obvious. Looking at the New Viewer episodes topic it doesn't look like everybody has figure it out yet.

You know, it's things like this that makes me question whether reading the VN was a good idea or a bad idea, since it's that kind of thing that can change a person's perception of things (then again, it also depends on whether the watchers/readers actually pays attention to stuff).

Gae Bolg and the Aius collision was sweet.
I found Caster demise ok, she was never the character to sympathize with, so I am ok with the way she is disposed here.
Next episode, Unlimited Blade Works.

What really bug me is when archer was trying to kill shirou why did the red carpet explode when the swords should only pierce it.

Because of the sheer force at which they were fired at him, I suspect.

Think of railguns: railgun sabots will pretty much always explode on impact, but they themselves have no explosives on them. They explode due to the sheer force in which they strike their targets, utilizing nothing but kinetic energy to devastate what they hit and the surrounding area.

Yeah. The movie made it look like Archer was completely unharmed after taking Gae Bolg with Rho Aius.

Can someone answer something for me? Why is Archer being so roundabout? Does he really want to kill Shiroe? He had a lot of opportunities to do so.

He wants to kill him, but that does not mean that he is completely disinterested in everything else. For example, he wants Rin and Saber to win the HGW and that's why he first killed Caster (otherwise, she would win) and only then focused on Shirou (IIRC, it was mentioned in the VN, in one of his monologues to be exact, that he planned for Rin and Saber to make a contract).

So just out of curiosity did Gae Blog penetrate Rhos Dias but Archer wasn't killed because the shield absorbed most of the impact?

He sure did went a real runabout way to make it true, especially since his actions just seemed to make a situation more worse than it needs to be (especially when it concerns letting Caster go during the first fight) concerning the environment they're fighting in.
