I'm pretty sure Hisoka is murder-sexual. He's only interested in killing people he thinks are worthy opponents. He does seem to be interested in Machi though, enough to tease her. Of course, she just flat out hates him, no qualifiers.

As well as asking her to have dinner with him back at Heavens Arena.

As for why it still incriminates him, I think it's because Hisoka was gambling on Chrollo stopping his dudes from jumping the gun and fire it. At this point, lots are too hot-headed to even think about using that nen ability to see the aura and the changes. Or they may assume it's Chrollo's.

But yeah, Hisoka proves that overwhelming firepower is not the end-all be-all in HxH, and that's counting on the fact that he did not have set conditions on his nen abilities like Kurapika did. One like Hisoka needs a LOT of imagination.

By the way, just a random question: Is it ok to talk about Chrollo's ability now? I don't think the story itself will focus any more on it.
I think it's fine by now.

....

The way Dengar says it in the last sentence sounds like a spoiler.

It's semi-spoilerish. There is an incoming scene that focus on that spoiler, but by the time we are now in, Chrollo's power was explained in detail in the manga, so i would say it's ok.

Basically, Chrollo is really a thief.

Well, it's just that people were wondering why Chrollo didn't kill Neon. A fact which has everything to do with his ability. And is the same reason he didn't attempt to kill Zeno.

There's like three or four conditions to be cleared before he can actually properly steal the ability, and then there's another three-four conditions to USE them afterwards.

Specialist abilities are rather complex when they aren't outright weird (like Lovely Ghost Writer which doesn't fit into any of the schools).

Animation direction I know:

Episode 22--Mai Ishii
Episode 23--Mika TAKAHASHI

I'm very familiar with Mika Takahashi through her work in Cowboy Bebop, and recently her work in Madoka Magica. Episode 23 was very good. I'm slowly catching up to this show and the most striking improvement where I can't say anything to criticize about are the selection of bgm and how they are used to set up the mood for a given scene. HxH fans are really lucky that Madhouse is doing this show considering they can pull in some really talented people to work with the show because of the Studio's sheer reputation. There won't be any half-hearted measure as long as the producers got the cash flowing. The overall animation also seems to be getting better. And so is the pacing for the story telling.

Thanks for the info, Leokiko!

I'm content with just the opening, because its awful.. the ending though, its epic.

Yeah, if it were up to me, "Hunting for Your Dream" would be the show's ending theme forever. Those first chords get me so pumped.

They'll probably change the ED once the Greed Island arc starts, though, and I hope the Chimera Ants arc gets an equally kick-ass theme by Galneryus.

That Phantom Troupe became a bit too obsessed with those fortunes.
They were totally busting their heads trying to get info from Hisoka.
Kurapika explaining how his chains work to Killua, Gon and Leorio.
It was interesting info.
Kurapika got Phantom Troupe very worried.

The leader is too smart for his own good.

I wonder does the perverted clown count as a spider since his spider is stick on and does kurapica jail chain work on someone whom he thinks is a spider but actually isn't?

I would assume it has to do with Kurapica's beliefs. Otherwise you run into weird problems like "who's checking?"

Hisoka is playing a (surprisingly) effective game of deception here, so the others (probably) don't know that he's a fake. One of his abilities is "Texture Surprise" which allows him to create an image indistinguishable from the real thing, provided that he found a suitable material... and god knows he's killed enough people to have real skin lying around.

...Though the prophecies clearly talk about the false fourth moon. That combined with Hisoka's already suspicious fortune really should get them more suspicious than they are. It really makes me question why Chrollo is taking it as a given that Hisoka is 100% loyal, but is prevented from saying more than he is. Yes, the prophecy mentions the sword of truth, and yes, Chrollo figured out what it was, but he also has a mind-reader on-hand who shouldn't be affected by anything that Hisoka can't actually say (that is, if he were actually bound by it).

As for who Kurapika can use the Chain Jail on, he wasn't entirely sure that Uvogin was a spider until he successfully used it on him. The way the scene played out, it looked like he was mostly sure, and was prepared to die on the off-chance that he was mistaken... Not dying was the unequivocal proof.

So, yeah, I also wonder what will happen if he uses it on Hisoka... There are two possibilities:
1. Hisoka is a member of the troupe, but a "fake" one because he is not loyal to Chrollo. The Chain Jail should work in this case.
2. There was another Hisoka before the current one arrived, and fake!Hisoka murdered real!Hisoka and took his place. In this case, the Chain Jail should kill Kurapika.

Or maybe more.

Trying to read his mind might kill him. "Don't reveal anything about me" doesn't limit it to speech (or writing, or charades). Getting his mind read would trigger the condition and then there'd be one less spider. Chrollo's not yet at the point where a dead Hisoka is worth more than a live one of questionable loyalty.

Also, Hisoka removed the part about the false fourth moon. None of the other spiders ever saw that line.

It was still such gamble for Hisoka though. Who knows, someone's prophecy might have directly contradicted the fake one he wrote (esp the homesickness part).

Clown got lucky.

Of course Clown got lucky. It's part of why he's so scary. He takes great risks and is ALWAYS rewarded for it.

What have I been missing these past 12 months. My god, Hunter X Hunter just blew me away as I was marathoning it. This Spider Troupe Arc is just so damn good. It's so layered in terms of storyline and it seems like there's so much at stake here. And my god Kurapika. . . his/her development these past few episodes . . . the emotions that he/she's been going through is just so masterfully done.
