Cool, so L dies by episode 26? That would make Death Note a perfect one-season cut off point.
*imagines the expressions of those who don't know about the series when they find out that, yes, the "bad guy" did win. Just leave off the pesky fact that it isn't over yet. ^^

Well, the anime just made it worse with episode 25. Light-haters will be out of the woodwork because Light betrayed his "best friend." Even though that's totally not the case...neither L nor Light ever thought of each other as "friends". So they made Light look even more evil then he is in the manga. Be prepared for lots of complaining.

A random thought that occurred to me after this week's episode.
Am I the only one who wanted to see more of Roger? Rather than mentioning him briefly, then shifting the focus to the young Near and Mello, I thought it would have been more interesting to present Roger as the main antagonist for the second half. - It would make more sense for him to be leading the investigation from a distance while he manages his orphanage, while Near and Mello directly investigate on their own and report back to him, instead of having Near sit in his office for the majority of 5 volumes until he finally emerges at the end. - Near and Mello are too similar to L. Roger appears to be a different type of character, which could perhaps give the story some relief from feeling bland/repetitive. - If Roger is teaching these gifted children, he is probably at least somewhat intelligent himself, especially since L trusts him as his last resort. - Or maybe I just want to see Light get a good old-fashioned talking-to. I have to wonder what they will need to cut out to fit the rest into 11 episodes, though. |

After seeing episode 27, you can see how they'll end all this at episode 37. I don't think it'll be rushed, just missing out those moments from the manga that aren't 100% needed.
Can't wait to see Mikami, one of my fav' characters from the series.

Though if you think about it --- they're not 100% needed, and at this point they don't have that many episodes left to complete the manga story. Episode 29 did feel rushed --- though it was nicely done.
