Good episode/finale overall.
Glad to see that they are able to save Pina while also making a fool of Zorzal. Itami is quite a badass for an otaku and he still has his love for it :P Looks like some of the women from the Empire also found their love with the military. This has been quite a thrilling ride. Two seasons of GATE. I think I enjoyed both seasons equally.

Very, VERY different from the book.
Almost every scene was changed to original in the anime here. Up until this point, the anime was following the novel fairly straight forward so the changes are pretty surprising. A bit underwhelming compared to the action in the book, but oh well. One neat change though is how they made Itami care more about the princess by making her rescue his primary mission. I think the anime is trying to paint the princess more as a heroine than the books, which I actually kinda like.

I think another season is pretty much guaranteed.
The anime boosted the novel sales by a million copy, and this is still Alphapolis' only successful franchise. No reason not to adapt book 4 and 5.

They kinda jumped the gun by showing pairings in advance (Vifeeta and Delilah stuff doesn't happen till book 4) but nothing that would affect the overall story flow in major way.

How old is Kengun? Certainly old enough to be Beefeater's father, but is he old enough to be her grandfather?
Also, why the hell is Bozes pregnant? That sounds rather irresponsible. (Though I suppose irresponsibility in these matters is hardly unheard of.) But mostly, poor Itami. The guy can't catch a break. |

In the novel he's actually reluctant at first to respond to her affections, but eventually gives into the relationship. As for Bozes, yes, it is, and it's against the JSDF law for Tomita's impregnate a native while on duty. Her pregnancy was actually revealed during the Jade Palace conflict in the novel, but the anime skipped over that plotline.

Well in the end a successful rescue . Was kind of fun seeing Rory and Lelei just annihilate that Ogre .
In the end the Emperor really didn't have a lot of options. His one son was....well Zolzal, the other ran off to ally other countries (though I can't entirely blame the guy), so Pina really is one of the few options he's got. Plus in the end...it's better than the alternatives. The Emperor isn't a total idiot. Might as well put someone in charge that the Japanese would be willing to work with. Though it does run the risk of Pina basically being a puppet Emperor. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if he thinks that is actually what will happen. Just put up with Japan more or less running the show until the Gate closes. Wow just looking at the body count...the real victims of this series are the Empire's soldiers . Going from one of the top military forces in that world to....well dead. Of course both sides had to do what they had to do, but certainly a lot of funerals that would have to be done. One thing that I realized when watching the "we're coupled up" part of the episode was that I'd forgotten who half of these people are . Sorry Itami, you might have hobbies and dreams. But you also have a harem . That will just take priority over work and hobbies.

I feel like there was no actual resolution here. There technically was, but it feels like there wasn't.
Also, if that one silly knight who got fooled by the Piper wants a man so badly, she should just hook up with Itami's underling who's jealous of everyone's relationships. Stop being stupid you two, there's someone else who wants a relationship right next to you. |

a more satisfying episode comparing to previous battle
still one-sided but Itami's squad is the best in stirring and executing a thrilling mission one thing I notice here is a new kind of respect toward the Emperor. He stayed true to his principle but prioritize his Imperial over his own idea. I'm sure he still reject the idea of cooperating with JSDF, but he know that his kingdom would not survive, that's why he prepared Pina in some way to succeed him Since Pina already rise to be the queen, I'm not sure she would have any lovey time with Itami anymore so no ship... even though those Native X JSDF ship is going strong.. I'm actually cheering so much for Yanagida.. that is beautiful!! almost kill each other but ended up being in lovey dovey with bunny girl.. I'm jealous For Tomita's case, I'm afraid he might get dismissed now... and I believe Bozes is a noble family.. so how could she let her got impregnated???? The ending is good actually... Feel bad for Itami so Rao got left alone as representative in the inauguration while three girls and Itami are having fun in Japan I think we would get S3 for sure but it would take a while |

Guess Yao isn't part of the harem since she didn't even appear at the end. Also I thought Itami had forgotten about his hobby since I don't remember it being brought up since the start of season 2 until the start of this episode. Because of that, I thought I made a mistake and was watching episode 1 of season instead |

Kurokawa got some action! WOOT! And with Yao no less. Very cool scene. I find myself echoing all the cool things others have already posted. Loved the wrap ups so that, if there is not a third season, at least we had a pretty good stopping point.
Although I have to say that even with the wrap ups there is a ton of plotlines ready for a third season: Zorzal and Tyuule (really loved what's happening to her: I don't think even she realizes what it is); Prince Diablo is off doing his thing; there's the other governments of Earth; the current party controlling the Diet may lose its majority; and of course Pinya carrying out Molt's orders. I'd love some OVAs filling in the various side stories (like Delilah and Yanagida getting together!) Good stuff.
