Watched episode 2:

Rin has funny bear hair.

Oh, and the outdoor club clubroom feels like it could induce claustrophobia.
Well, I guess they can't be choosers the club only has 2 member.. now increased to 3. They need Rin to increase to 4 for a proper club room.

Somehow I feel that the latest campsite that Rin went to likes to charge a lot from their campers? Are people not allowed to bring their own wood?

Cute Girls Do Camping things.

I instantly like it on the first episode. Relaxing atmosphere, adorable characters, beautiful scenery and a relaxing ED. I just can't get enough of this relaxing anime. And I'm glad there's one this Winter to warm myself up. Best watching with a cup of tea or coffee.

This anime makes me want to go camping.

Episode 3:

I think it's nice to see Nadeshiko and Rin getting along better. Feels like Rin is understanding her better.

The episode features some classic outdoor camping scenes between the two. I kinda like the montage song they used while also featuring Mount Fuji in the background. Really felt realistic with the setting and scenery.

Nice episode overall.

I’m jealous of Nadeshiko...she’s got such a kind elder sister. Rin’s still my favorite the elder sister isn’t far behind.
Love the new episode, very relaxing and heartwarming.

Definetly not your usual sibling. No one in family doesn't stay in a car for the night unless literally every single hotel in town is full. Literally.

Another nice episode, with the lead ladies getting closer, and gotta say, I love Nadeshiko's sleepy face. So cute!

What a change from her first appearance in the first episode, when she tosses Nadeshiko into the back of her vehicle

I like that this show is educational, not just CGDGT. Not only a show about camping, but winter camping!

This show just feels good to watch . Some shows get called 'feel good' but this is one of them that really captures that. I just feel better about things in general after watching the latest episode for this one.

Just nice watching Nadeshiko and Rin camping, the sibling side of things, and the overall slow and relaxing pace. I can even get where Rin is coming from with preferring to camp in winter. Bugs suck .

Yeah that doesn't happen often. Though I kind of did something like that once. Think my younger brother wanted to hit a boxing day sale or something at a riding store. So basically slept in the car overnight.

Still I salute Nadeshiko's sister. She drove her sister out there, stayed the night, and made sure she got up in time to catch the sunrise. Top notch sister.

I've watched my share of shows like Yuru Camp. Most of them I enjoy, but this one is starting to bore me. There needs to be some dramatic element to motivate the story that I find lacking here. For instance, Place Beyond the Universe has a strong motivating theme, going to Antarctica, that provides a focus and rationale for the story. Thirteen weeks of watching girls stare at Mount Fuji isn't going to maintain my interest.

Funny, I was just coming to say how comfy and enjoyable I find this show. My family and a group of our friends tend to go camping every year. We skipped last year, and I'm really missing it.

This series is practically perfect as far as I'm concerned. The comfiest thing I've seen in several seasons; since Flying Witch aired, at the least. While I expect characters to slowly develop as we go through (Rin clearly is going to learn to appreciate going camping with other people, as well as solo), overall I don't think the show needs to change a thing. It's doing exactly what it intends to do.

Eh, Yuru Camp is a very different show from Sora Yori Mo: the former is a relaxing slice-of-life show, the other is a young adventure drama, so trying to compare the two doesn't really hold much merit for me even if they're superficially under the umbrella of CGDCT.

Yuru Camp for me is mostly about the characters (Rin is great) and the overall relaxing atmosphere it brings about through its visuals and music.

A few geographical notes here:
  1. A cut on Sakura's license plate shows the Kagamiharas comes from Hamamatsu. That place is known for having the highest per-household consumption of gyoza in Japan, and Japanese Wikipedia notes a family usually consumes dozens of them per sitting. So the 50-gyoza box Nadeshiko bought, by the standards of Hamamatsu, is probably a single dinner for a family of 4.
  2. Several places were discussed this episode. Sakura probably went to see a friend in Fujinomiya, OutClub members find jobs in Minobu, and the fact that Nadeshiko living in Nanbu is raised again. These three places are all on the Minobu Line corridor. Since Nanbu (pop. 7,705) never had a high school, Nadeshiko probably goes to school in Minobu. However, Yamanashi allows students in that prefecture to attend any high schools in the prefecture. Nanbu is socially associated with Fujinomiya, but Minobu is associated with the rest of Yamanashi.

I was a bit surprised that the girl got a job in a liquor store. Here in my state of Massachusetts, people under eighteen cannot work in liquor stores. Now that some supermarkets sell beer and wine, but still have cashiers under eighteen, the cashier has to find an adult to swipe the bottle(s) through the scanner and bag them. As a state, we're generally stricter about things like this than the average, but I'd bet there are many US states where a high-school student would be prohibited from working in a liquor store.

And yet in Flying Witch we had the 15-year-old Nao working at her family's liquor store, with the impression that she'd apparently been working there for years, and here we have Chiaki getting a job at one. Japan is apparently less fussy about minors working around alcohol.

In Oregairu, there was a high schooler working as a bartender, but she lied about her age.

I just had a look at stalker and it looks this show is the best seller of the season (going by preorders, at least). That's pretty surprising.

Yuru Camp's commitment to the scenery and realism is definitely commendable: Rin and Nadeshiko are at Fumotoppara Camp this time around, located around 15.9 km south of Koan Campground. Loving the direction this series is taking, and those preorder numbers might simply be a sign that Yuru Camp is doing what it does well.
