Aaah, it's not fair. Where is the real-life Balsa in my life? I can be as nice as Tanda too....it's not that hard. ....and chibi Balsa was too cute for words.....who could possibly kill such a child? I now know how they made teenage Balsa look younger -- she doesn't wear lipstick! Yeah, I know, that should have been obvious, but I'm slow to catch such details (or perhaps I was too distracted to notice. ) Parts of this episode felt like good ol' a wuxia film. I liked it when Jiguro observed, "It's true that martial artists attract more and more opponents as they hone their skills." It reminded me of a scene from Jet Li's Huo Yanjia, where the eponymous hero explained the purpose of constant sparring to a fellow martial artist, who had erroneously believed that it's all about deciding who is superior. It's possible that Jiguro became so powerful at a young age because he did not have anything to lose at the time, and was thus willing to risk everything to progress in martial arts. By deciding to protect Balsa, he then had something to lose, which made him correspondingly more powerful, and possibly a little bit wiser at the same time. All this thinking reminded me of karma all over again. Actions and reactions. If Jiguro hadn't saved Balsa, and if he hadn't brought up Balsa the way he did, Chagum wouldn't still be alive today. So, in a way, Jiguro is as much his benefactor as Balsa. I hope Chagum learns the lesson. |

Your guess landed so close to home that I thought you had already watched the raws.
Funny, that's the second comment wondering if Chagum would become a bodyguard. I don't think so. I think it would be far likelier that he'd one day become the most virile King in Yogo history, a warrior-sage who would usher in a Golden Age for New Yogo. |

I was looking up information of the various people in the Seirei no Moribito production crew (what they did, stuff like that) and it turns out that the character designer... Gatou Asou... well, he is some kind of a porn guy. Draws hentai doujinshi.
I LOL'd. That's all I can say. Barsa is literally "teh sex". |

I read about it too while I was looking up info on this show before it aired. I didn't want to search too much though...
What confuses me is why and how did they get this guy. I thought there was something against using people who have been known for doing Naughty Stuff under the same name for TV shows ("respectable" ones on NHK, no less). But other than that how did they scout for him... and why him? I don't quite get it.

I tried googling, but found nothing much about Gato Aso, other than for his association to Seirei no Moribito. So where are the links to his works? I'd like to do some, *ahem*, research too.
As for his background, I'm not too sure. I would imagine that artists/designers have as hard a time as writers when it comes to putting food on your table. Given the size of the porn industry in Japan (erm, don't ask me how I know ), it doesn't seem unusual for an artist to find paying work there. |
