A show like Code geass (s1 and s2). I really loved that show and it's themes
like military/action/mecha/antihero/sacrifice/banishedprince/err..a little romance

/mastermind etc. I especially loved the ending, so sad.

Think you could narrow that down a bit, mate? It'll be pretty hard to find a show that fits all of those criteria.

Death Note is the obligatory suggestion for anyone who enjoyed Code Geass, for its antihero/mastermind similarities. I won't spoil any details, but I reckon you'll enjoy it if you've yet to see it.

Darker Than Black could be another good choice if you're looking for a dark protagonist, atmosphere and some great action.

Try FMP. but it doesn't have a mastermind the way code geass does. It's more militaristically oriented.

its not anti-hero though.
but rest assured, the main character is not some stupid pussy, with ridiculous impossible ideals. He aims for good but he knows on the way sacrifices needs to be made.

i wont say more since it will spoil. the first few episode.

If you don't mind watching a heroic elementary school kid as the Japanese version of Sherlock Holmes, then try Meitantei Conan. Kudo Shinichi is definitely a genius, but it would have been better if he can find a cure and revert back to his original appearance. (^-^)

I'll second Utawarerumono--I agree with the above poster, it hits all the bases but anti-hero.
