In vol 8, the details of Konoe’s past are revealed. Yuzurina shows up and Shougo shows her the videotape from vol 7. Yuzurina says the girl in the videotape, Konoe, looks like ‘Fuu-chan’. Yuzurina had already told him before (in vol 6 I think) that there was a girl that lived at Kumagoru’s villa called ‘Fuu-chan’ and it’s possible that this girl is Shougo’s sister (it seems Yuzurina’s family was acquainted with Kumagorou but I’m not really sure). This further suggests that Konoe might be Shougo’s sister. Konoe walks in asks what they're doing.
Shougo and Miyabi know that Miyabi’s father, Kazuma, is hiding something that is related to what they want to know and so they meet Tsuda, an employee of Kazuma’s company. They asked Tsuda if there was anything different about Kazuma 10 years ago. Tsuda said that the company was in bad condition that time and there was a woman who Kazuma hired with pocket money. That woman was rumored to be Kazuma’s mistress and she also had a daughter who was given away for adoption. Tsuda only knows the woman’s family name, which is Saginomiya and does not know the name of the daughter either. But Tsuda said he can find out what her name is by looking into the company records. Shougo remembered from Kumagorou’s autobiography that before Shougo was born Kumagorou met someone from the Saginomiya family. The Saginomiya family is a prestigious family like the Kunitachi family and so Shougo calls Rinka if she knows anything. Rinka asks her father and then informs Shougo that all Rinka’s father know is that there was a woman in the Saginomiya family who went missing and eloped with a man 17-18 years ago (which was also around the time Shougo was born). The name of that woman was Mayuki.
Shougo and Konoe later go on a date by watching movie and doing karaoke.
They then go to Konoe’s room and there Shougo receives a call from Tsuda. Tsuda found out that the name of the mysterious woman hired in Kazuma’s company was Saginomiya Mayuki. Mayuki’s face in the photo that Tsuda sent resembles Konoe. Konoe who overheard their conversation asks Shougo why he knows about that name. Shougo tells her that he’s been looking into Kumagorou’s past and Konoe tells him that Mayuki is her birth mother. Shougo asks her if she lived with Mayuki at Kumagoru’s villa and she confirms it. Shougo asks why Konoe was at that villa but she won’t say and asks to be alone. Shougo leaves Konoe’s room and then while walking home in the middle of rain he says that he loves Konoe. Konoe is also there and heard what he said. She tells Shougo that she loves him too and then he hugs her in the middle of the rain.
They are in Shougo’s room and had taken a shower. They then talk about Mayuki and Konoe says that she knows that Mayuki is her birth mother but she doesn’t who her father is. Kumagorou was helping Mayuki and he was going to adopt Konoe but Kumagoru’s father was against it and then she ended up as Tsuruma Seiji’s adopted daughter. This is what the conversation between Kumagoru and Seiji in the videotape was about. Konoe had asked Seiji if she was Kumagoru’s daughter but he didn’t really know. Konoe had visited Kumagorou when he was hospitalized and Kumagorou said he wanted to be Konoe’s father. When she was little, Konoe dreamed of being a family with Kumagorou, Mayuki and Shougo. But now she has parents that treasure her and someone she loves. Shougo also says that he wants to be Konoe’s lover while they are lying on the floor hugging each other.
Later, Miyabi had decided to test her DNA with her father and if it turns out that she’s not Shougo’s sister then she wants to be his lover. She also heard about Mayuki, who is suspected to be Kumagorou’s mistress and whose face resembles Konoe. Shougo says that Mayuki is Konoe’s mother but it is not known who her father is. Konoe insists that she’s not Shougo’s sister and she is his lover. Miyabi argues if Konoe really is his sister then she can’t be his lover. A fight between Miyabi and Konoe ensues. Miyabi is angry at Shougo and Konoe, accusing them of deceiving everyone. She is then crying and says that everyone she loves such as her father, mother and even Shougo is disappearing in front of her.
Sometime later, Konoe is giving a speech in front of all the students during some commemoration ceremony. In the middle of the speech, she notices Mayuki is there. Konoe starts to feel unwell and collapses. Mayuki starts to leave but is stopped by Miyabi who tells her not run away from her own daughter.
Mayuki then tries to talk to Konoe but Konoe is angry at her for coming all of a sudden and tells her she’s not her mother. After some encouragement from Miyabi and Shougo, Konoe finally agrees to meet Mayuki. Shougo asks Mayuki who Konoe’s father is. Mayuki says she wants Konoe and Shougo to be happy but
Konoe’s father is Kumagorou, Shougo’s father.
Mayuki explained to them about how she met Kumagorou and fell in love with him. Konoe was then born but she was not accepted by the Saginomiya family. So Mayuki ran away from her home with Konoe and stayed at Kumagorou’s villa. Kumagorou was supposed to adopt Konoe but the plan failed because of Kumagorou’s father finding out. Mayuki always had a week body so she ended up being hospitalized. Kumagoru originally asked his friend Tsuruma Seiji to adopt Konoe but Seiji was not married at the time. Kumagorou then continued to look for another family to take care of Konoe and Shougo realizes that it’s Miyabi’s father, Kazuma. At the same time, Kanoko and Kazuma are talking about the past. It is revealed that Kazuma is Kumagorou’s half-brother and thus
Miyabi is Shougo’s cousin. Kumagoru asked Kazuma to take care of Konoe which was the meeting between them, that Miyabi saw when she was little and led to the belief that she was Shougo’s sister, was actually what it was all about. However, Miyabi’s father refused because he just got divorced and he already has hands full on managing his company and raising Miyabi on his own. Tsuruma Seiji decided to get married shortly after and eventually he adopted Konoe. Mayuki was discharged from the hospital but her body was still weak. Kumagorou couldn’t support Mayuki openly so she was hired as an employee of Miyabi’s father’s company in exchange Kumagorou would provide assistance to Miyabi’s father’s company that was in trouble and to Miyabi’s child support. This is what the child support that Miyabi saw and heard actually meant. Mayuki left the company after she fully recovered and Miyabi’s father’s company’s performance had improved so Kumagorou’s assistance to Miyabi’s child support was no longer needed. Back to Mayuki explaining that after she left the company she was living in a mansion on her own after her relationship with her parents was repaired to some extent.
Konoe says it’s all a lie and she doesn’t believe it. She runs off and Shougo follows later. Konoe is crying and they hug:
Shougo: “Are you okay…?”
Konoe: “Why Kumagoru-san… didn’t tell me that that he was my father…? Why, I don’t understand… (Konoe continues to speak in a sad voice). “I…love you, Shougo…”
Shougo: “I… love you, Konoe…
Shougo lifts her face that is covered with tears.
Shougo: “I am your… lover…”
They kiss.
Later, Miyabi and Shougo meet. Miyabi says she heard from her father that she and Shougo are cousins. Miyabi tells Shougo that she loves him. But
Shougo says she can’t be with her because he has decided to be Konoe’s lover. Miyabi then says she’s been waiting to hear that and thanks Shougo for having been with her.
Shougo and Konoe go meet Konoe’s father, Seiji, to tell him that they’re dating. But Seiji tells them that they’re siblings and he knew all along. Seiji also said that he and his wife, Youko, at that time were about to get married and were about to adopt Konoe. However, Youko had a miscarriage and so they couldn’t bring Konoe home with them when that happened. But Seiji and Youko eventually got married and adopted Konoe in the end. The reason all the parents involved kept everything a secret was to protect everyone in the Mikadono family and Konoe. Seiji then shows them a DNA report that proves that Konoe is indeed Kumagorou’s daughter. Seiji says that they’re siblings and so they can’t be together. Konoe refuses to accept it because she loves Shougo. She runs off and Shougo goes after her. He tells her that even if she’s his sister he wants to live with her.
In the epilogue of the volume, Miyabi receives a DNA report that confirms that Kazuma is indeed her father and Shougo is her cousin. Konoe is still saying that she and Shougo are not siblings. Shougo says it’s fine if they are siblings and asks her to live together just the two of them. He suggest that they go live together in a place that no knows about them. He doesn’t want anything else, just having Konoe is enough for him. Konoe tells him not to say such a thing and says that he won’t be happy with her. Shougo insists that just being with her makes him happy. Konoe tells him that she loves him but they can’t be together anymore.
Konoe: “Goodbye, Shougo-san. Also…everything, until now, thank you.”
