You mean in her 20s right? If not, Oishi must be one of those extremely healthy old people that live past their 100s and Rena must have retained her youth to make her look 20 years younger. And she looks roughly looks like this:


I think in one of those short animated dvd gags, she works for an insurance company and attempts to sell insurance to Oishi.

Well, the bulk of Higurashi is set in 1983 and that one episode was set in 2007. Rena is probably 15 or 16 in 1983. Add 24 years to that makes her about 40 years old.

Keiichi is the same age as Rena... Mion is one year older, which also means that Shion is a year older too.

During Higurashi however, Keiichi is the same age as Mion and Shion since his birthday for the year already passed. Making them all 14 at the time if that piece of info about Rena is correct. O.o

Technically, given the references given about all the main characters, this still makes sense, as the "older" main cast was always considered to be within the 14-16 age range. The reference ages of Rika and Satoko better cemented Keiichi, Rena, Mion and Shion at the younger end.


Still, it feels weird to think of how you viewed the world when you were 13-15, so it may not be as strange (in a cosmic sense) as first believed.

The Tsumihoboroshi-hen epilogue in the VN takes place in 2005, so that would adjust her age to be around 15.

She doesn't, but that doesn't mean that the animated version takes place at a different time. Plus, her age makes more sense if that's the case.

PS: I've been trying to find again the image listing Rena's age but with no luck. I'm pretty sure it was one of those cards, but with Rena as an adult. Does anyone have it?

Umm... It DOES take place at a different time. It's 2007 in the anime instead of 2005.
