chiho and not emi? why? emi and him got good chemistry. I know in early volumes or anime that shows chiho' s love to him but emi and him as not battles in them. heck, there is also the daughter!!!

cheap harem end. not good.

To be honest i couldnt see in 21 volumes a good chemistry between Emi and Maou . Emi lived a good portion of her life thinking that maou killed her father . Also she gave a feeling of hate , and after a while acceptance but not love . And Chiyo loved him even for the monster he is

While it more or less arguable whether it was love, it was MUCH more then "just acceptance". You could argue it was due Stokholm syndrome or because she needed someone to depend on and Maou was only one to provide her with that, but Emi without doubt got lot of affection for Maou. Man himself also showed lot of more affection toward her then toward Chiho even if from big part it was due guilt.

Claiming it was unhealthy relationship is much more viable argument against Maou x Emit than flat denial of pretty obvious cues. Especially as their chemistry from most part carried whole story.

Yes. Harem end is already bad IMO but to have a boring girl as the main wife? This is even worse than your generic harem end. Also, if they are going to for harem end, why stop at 2 girls?

Even if the series is great throughout if it doesn't stick the landing then the series can feel completely ruined.

Having Maou end up with Chiho is the dumbest thing ever. Don't build up the main hero, Maou, and heroine, Emi, relationship just to toss that straight into the ground. It's dumb and author has failed their landing

Am I the only who finds this ironic. Usually in this kind of story people complain that A: a harem hasn't ended in one or B: the main heroine (sometimes paired with the opinion that she is the least favorite of the bunch for many)cockblocks everyone else, so that readers lose faith in the genre itself due to lack of surprise and the predictableness. So it's kinda funny to see this case here.

As I noted before, that's because Maou-Emi chemistry was what carried story and it was hillarious (as well as sad and touching).

Wagahara did wrote enough build up for Chiho end as well as back doors for not doing Emi route across multiple volumes. It is still terrrible choice, but if Chiho was the end girl it wouldn't be out of nowhere at least. I would still be super dissatisfied with any route other then Emi though.

Most of the humor comes from the Maou-Emi dynamic
They act just like a real-life couple involved in a domestic dispute that is trying to patch things together
Yeah, their relationship is uneven, but that's kinda the point

Well, her doing something important and her being set up as end girl are two separate matters.

That said story portraited her specialist in the "Talk no Jutsu". She is main buffer between Maou and Emi. She converted Suzune. Talked down several bloodthirsty demons, made them to aknowledge and follow her orders and generaly doing stuff like that. Those are stuff portraited as importand stuff she did.

I'm not sure wtf actually happened in the ending but I'd be happy with either Chiho ending or harem ending because Chiho is too cute. I remember watching the anime and thinking "too bad she'll never win"

I've had a chuckle reading some comments, what made the difference here was that EmixMaou moments were always the " will they? won't they?" kind, yeah it might pull your strings but at the end Emi wasn't really upfront about her feelings while Chiho's interaction while not as interesting she was outright upfront about her feelings and didn't hold back. It was the natural outcome, you'll probably have this on Toaru series when it ends.

since im out of date, just wondering if there were any chiho moment with maou in the last few volume that got him to respond to her feelings down the road. I'm glad she won, but wanted to know if there were any hints if maou was developing feeling to for her?

PS: Yeah right for Toaru, we wont probably see any development until the last 5-6 vol since touma is a nuise when it come to girls and his own feelings

Why the heck somany people dissatisfied with Chiho??

Am I the most happiest one with Chiho ending here???

Her drive to keep Maou to choose her even though Maou have several times reject or didn't give her any response or try to distance her didn't break her spirit in reverse it fuel the fire of her desire to be chosen despite aware of strong rival ( emi and suzuno) while she's normal human deserved trophy.

Of Course I will be the one who Pissed the most if the author didn't choose her ending after all her hard work from the beginning of novel till the end. Also it should be obvios already because Chiho has the most appearance at novel cover

You know that being nice person is not good enough to justify heroine victory right?

Well you can see it as Shonen where the main female lead never win like

Naruto ....sakura lose

Bleach....Rukia lose

Dragon ball....Bulma lose

but here there is also hints that Emi is also his wife but not the main one

Not sure about Bleach but main female lead is not always shipped with the main male lead.

Naruto - Sakura was shipped with Sasuke from the start, Naruto with Hinata
Dragon Ball - Goku was shipped with Chi Chi, Bulma with Yamcha (granted this one didn't happen)

It happened with Harry Potter too, like 80% of the readers shipped Hermione with Ron from the start. There was more fanfiction pairing Harry with Draco than with Hermione.
