Regards the AKs being foxgirls, as one poster mentioned a few pages ago, it's because they're from Akagenekou, "Red Steel High School".

The kanji for Akagenekou can also be read as "AK ga neko" = AK is a cat. Hence, cat ears.

Also, Eru's firing pin snapping was foreshadowed in Episode One, when she was squirming in pain in the school infirmary; the nurse diagnosed her as having problems with her firing pin. Poor Elle; as if the recounting of her humiliations in front of the Elementary School girls last week wasn't enough, now she breaks her firing pin and 16 hates her...

Britain isn't quite as rich as one would imagine, particularly when it comes to outfitting Her Majesty's Armed Forces. SAS and Apaches aside, the British Army isn't exactly the best-outfitted force in the world. There's also the economic problems during the Cold War, where thanks to powerful trade unions, Britain was very uncompetitive compared with other nations. (Until Margaret Thatcher came about and broke their backs, that is.)

The fact that they also sold their gold reserves when gold was at an all time low may also be a factor.

There is no real separate designation. You have to ask for the 5.56mm version of the M95, since the 7.62mm and the 5.56mm versions both use the same commercial name. Furthermore, I believe that the export version is no longer made since all production stopped.
