Ah, found this...
http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm6621335 Wii is the Tales of Gracia... Can't import it. orz Have to wait for a localization... Now how will that turn out. It seems it evolved, huh? Just like Tempest-->Innocence Who's the artist this time? PS3 is Tales of Vesperia. If the PS3 had human emotions, I'm sure it'd be happy right now that Tales did not forget its existence... Even if it still has no original Tales. By the way: http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm3921869 Joke video making fun of the specs of the PS3 using a slowed version of some parts of TOV PSP is... Tales of VS, huh... As always, PSP doesn't get any original Tales, huh. Always these party games. 1 on 1 battles? The character designs... feel weird for a few characters.

The PSP gets the Tales spin-offs nowadays, like Tales of the World 1 and 2. And now, it will have this Tales of VS to add into the mix. They also have some ports of older Tales games, but I don't think it has a straight up Tales game exclusive to it yet.
The situation is just like Eternal Sonata. It gets released for the PS3 with added content (a new loli, oh hooray...) but I can't help but feel that it's already too late for a lot of potential buyers to care in a significant way. Then again, this isn't Eternal Sonata, and there will be enough folks within the 3 million PS3 owners in Japan that just might want it. Fanboy bitterness from the one side, or a port worth the wait for the other, whatever... I just hope that there will be enough added stuff in this to warrant a second look. |

We really need a general thread for Tales... But my original request remains buried in the request thread, destined to be... Anyways...
Movie title: テイルズ オブ ヴェスペリア ~The First Strike~ First? Link For the fall of 2009, TOV for the PS3. Link For summer of 2009 for the PSP, TO-VS where 35 people from the 13 games of Tales appear in an action game. Link Tales of Graces for Wii for Winter of 2009. Genre is "RPG to Know/Learn the Strength to Protect" Link Come to think of it... I tend to feel like "Escort Titles" is just an excuse for Namco to throw away the stuff that aren't popular or well-received... I wonder if only I feel this way.

From SectionX2 on gfaqs:
-Looks like a new mystic arte for yuri -Sword Dancer is confirmed -New scenes and FMVs -New costumes http://bbs.a9vg.com/read.php?tid=1145092&fpage=1 I hope there's gonna be an NA version, but somehow I doubt it, since this is Sony here =_=. Well, they only did that for TotT, which i hear is the worst Tales game since Legendia(which I actually liked quite a bit). Well, at the very least, they didn't all of a sudden call ToS2 a mothership title even though it supposedly did better than ToV in sales. |

Some other information on the PS3 version... I don't see why Legendia is considered so bad. Sure, the battles were... like that, but the story was really good. OK, sure, the main story's end was laughably chaotic, involving a old man that just won't die and some other stuff, but the character quests are really good... Though I here the NA version doesn't have voices?!

So, with the PS3 version having more content (new character, new subplots and scenes, fully voiced, tie-in to the upcoming anime), I wonder how the folks waiting for the PAL version will react?
I think the chances are good that this will reach the West considering Eternal Sonata, but it's pretty cruel that PAL users might have to wait again for a possibility of a Western release. Also, hilarious stuff coming from fanboy rage over ToV PS3 in Japan. (from Sankaku Complex, NSFW) |

Though rather than that, I find it sad that people actually will do these things. I mean, I might understand feeling hurt after going all the way to buy a XBOX360 for TOV (which, itself, is a stupid thing to do unless you are rich) and then finding out a better version is coming out on the PS3, but breaking the game disk or burning the advertisements... Haa... You can't underestimate humans, in various meanings, huh.

Seriously though, we're still technically on square one, as an English localization of the PS3 version has not been confirmed to my knowledge. However this is currently a bright star of hope for us that we just might be able to play the game at all. A lot of people have lost hope that an EU version of the 360 will ever come out as there seems to be a habbit of not releasing Tales games on this side of the ocean, and E-mails are the type that are deliberately vague and capable of being withdrawn into 'we're not planning to release it' types. ("We are planning to release it for the second half of 2009" Yeah, yeah, that's what you said for Abyss. And Legendia. We know how where this ball will land.) Extra content be damned, we would have been happy enough if this game got ported to a US PS3 version at all, because otherwise we would never be able to play the game at all. The extra content is nothing more then a bonus, though some will put it as a plaster covering the wound of having to wait a full year before being able to play it. As I said before, if this game gets an American localization before or close to the 360 EU one, I will laugh. Laugh hard, and walk to my local gamestore and pick up a US import of the PS3 version, not just for the content, but to show them that they should never ever pull that outdated region-lock crap ever again. Source? Don't get me wrong, I want this to be true, but after more then half a year, I've grown very skeptical of such announcements. Last edited by Keroko; 2009-04-08 at 10:18. |

Finally..... they ever given any excuse why it took so long? You noticed? Sarcasm aside, yes I am. This is the age of the net. Regions are a relic of the past that needs to be erased. I have missed out on many great RPG's solely because I live in Europe. Despite being able to speak English, despite being able to read English, for some reason an RPG coming out in the English language is still 'forbidden' for me to play. I finally thought we were over this region crap. Many 360 games are region-free, the PS3 is region-free in its entirety, and then they give me this crap. For reasons that are still unknown, I have to wait over half a year to be able to play a game to play a game I like, even though the game already exists in a language I can handle just fine. It's like they're dangling the game on a rope, just barely outside of my reach. It's annoying, it's useless, and if it wasn't for that fact that I am so insanely stubborn they'd have long lost me as a potential customer. Last edited by Keroko; 2009-04-09 at 04:03. |
