I think I will read the first part of the manga sometime but, since the entire ANN forums got spoiled on the ending, I doubt I'll read all the way to the very end, what I read about it made me give my computer screen disturbed looks.

I still think that the manga is a decent read, so it's not like i am persuading people to not read it. The only problem is: the second half is so different to the anime, that it is better to consider it as a different story....

Actually, please consider it as a different story

It will be like a time skip caused "Lord of The Ring" turning into "Iron Man" . Both are decent to watch, but better to consider them independent work

really loved the manga, the ending too.

Indipendent story?

First part manga/anime it's the same.

Why consider anime a different story?

manga is conclused..then it's normal to think that anime is based on manga too at this point....

A sort of change in manga happen from first to second part, but it's a sort of evolution, linked to evolution of character too (over 10 years passed).

BTW I like the ending becouse I like the ending (sorry XD) but also, finally I can read a real ending, not like in all the last anime/manga that have only open ending or NO ending XD.

Sorry for my english

Because we have a great time gap, leading to change in characters' personalities, their interactions, the overall storyline, and even the genre and theme of the series...

....which is pretty much... most of the important aspects to keep two stories the same

The anime and manga have quite a different art style also

yeah but iisn't another story.

Anime end with the first part of the manga...but since this point they are identical.

The real/complete" story is the manga one at the moment.

Art style? Personally they seems very very similar to me...with the same little difference from Anime/manga that we can find in a lot of series.

Of course, I'm nowhere near the end and not spoiled about the infamous ending, so I might feel differently when I finish it.
It's really the last few chapters that give people the heebeejeebies, and reasonably so. They could have changed the text of, oh, the last two chapters and avoided it.

The pre-timeskip is a great series. 90% of the post time-skip is enjoyable as well, especially as it starts close to the 'end' and goes backwards to fill in the skip. And even the leadup to the end isn't unreasonable: it's something plenty of children face and struggle with growing up, and then move on past.

It's that final resolution that makes people go . The rest is good enough.

It's not even just the final bits, the whole second half is rushed, and goes no where, it's a jumbled mess.

But this is the anime thread soooo....I'd love 3 OVA or even an entire season of slightly older Rin, 10 or so. There's a lot that can happen in 10 years.

damage control?

It's a nonsense..

That's the same story , but for a longer time.

Different story are Evangelion Series/End of evangelion (not really, probably an alternative end)

This is only an anime without the ending, and the manga that tell the complete story.

I can see why a lot of people don't like the 2nd half of the manga and it's obviously a controversial ending.. but I wish people would you know actually give it a chance instead of reading a one line spoiler and going "fuck that shit". Myself I wasn't spoiled on the ending.. but after seeing something in the anime I had a hunch and read the manga to confirm it.. and well I was right.

If anime end (when and if it end) in a different way we can say that we have 2 different story. ATM the only "real" and complete story is the manga one.

And don't forget that Usagi drom isn't a shonen, then we can think about the same "mature" ending.

I don't think anyone mistook the story for shounen whether they liked the ending or not. Basically someone's feelings on the ending has little to do with target demographics.

Yeah, I mean, anime seems to have same target than manga...

Them we can imagine the same mature ending.

I always considered Usagi Drop to be a shoujo anime myself.

Well the manga is Josei...which is basically a story directed to adult/mature women. (Counterpart to Seinen)

I was only taking about the anime being shoujo (so far), I'll prob change my mind if the rest of the manga ever gets animated.

I can see the rest being animated since the studio has known to do so in the past. I'll hold off on the manga i think.

I can see the anime working equally well on both shoujo and seinen audiences so ... who cares? Anyway, as a stand-alone product the anime hit all my "gold star" buttons. <snip> I was going to say a lot more but it got too torturous in order to avoid spoilage issues. Whatever, if they animate the remainder of the storyline I'll be watching it.
