Manga 'Houkago Saikoro Club' (Afterschool Dice Club) is getting a TV anime adaptation.

Plot

A story about girls playing board games after school!

Kyoto in Spring. Aya is a high school girl who's just moved to a new town. Miki is her shy classmate, and her first friend. One day after school Aya and Miki follow the committee president Midori to a speciality board games store. The Dice Club!! Without thinking they try out a German board game together.

These girls, who are searching for fun, soon fall into the exciting world of games

I think this has a lot of creative potential especially with the game and club elements. Miki and Aya has some character chemistry and I hope the show will focus more time in developing their relationship.

An anime about that board game manga!!! I was so happy when I found that manga years ago, I totally had no idea this was getting an anime! I am so happy again! <3 <3 <3
I love board games and collect a lot of them. I spot Village there in japanese letters, awesome! Bunny Kingdom, Colony, yesyesyesyesYES! Small World, Dominion, 7 Wonders, Eldricht Horror, Kingsburg, Winter der Toten, Stone Age, Caverna and ofc Die Siedler von Catan - there are so many fun games to play and enjoy! Though compared to the board games shop I go to in Germany this one is even smaller, mine got even TableTop Games like Warhammer Fantasy/40k, Mordheim, BloodBowl and rpg games like D&D or Schwarzes Auge. Still glad to see that board games are a thing enough in Japan to get an anime for a manga about it.^^

Lol, Miki is such a crybaby and Aya is so carefree (I mean she ran around the whole rest of the day with no panties on, jaysus, girl! XD), they make quite the pair. XD
And Prez the overcorrect rule following student is a board game geek, yay! <3
I love the scary Shop Owner, I also follow that rule, if you play, you go all out, no mercy. Though there are games where no mercy rule can reeeeeeeeeeeeally suck like Eclipse where you can get ship-rushed by other players if you are unlucky with the dice and they are aggressive early on. If they shut down your Tier2 star systems you are in deep trouble.
I doubt our three lovely girls gonna play such a complicated game though I could see Prez playing that with other adults.^^

I know this anime probably won't be popular around here, but I will give my best to give it a weekly comment. Next week Kakerlaken Poker, noice, fun game. <3

Good start. For me it's all about the games, and Kyoto (when I was watching the episode I was thinking "I've been there, I've had dinner next to that street!!" and so on

Oh Aya... so adorable yet so clueless. I can't blame her for shipping the childhood friend route, though. I wonder if she'll ever win a game?

I wonder if these girls will ever play a game of Three Dragon Ante... The rules for that might be too complicated to quickly explain in an anime episode, though.

I wish I could have played such card games at school, but all everyone knew was those party games you do with Poker cards~~~

But since Aya is sunshine on legs she won't mind. No wonder Shouta fell for her so hard. Super cute, super nice and super dense, lol. xD
Man, the way they say "Kakerlaken Poker" was so weird! It sounded more like Kopurique than Ka-ker-la-ken. Then again, german is a real hard language to spell.
Miki strong! Her female intuition is off the charts! Shouta was like an open book to her! Too bad he made Aya lose with the fly card. There goes your chances, bro, woman never forget who beat them at a card game. Ask my mom. :P

Hah~~~~ I want this series to have 26 and more episodes. <3

That's because she wasn't saying "Kaker Laken Poker." She was saying "Gokiburi Poker," literally "Cockroach Poker" which is what the game seems to be known as throughout most of the world. The subs decided to go with German for the name for some reason, and then change Miki's line in response to it as well.

Probably because it is a german card game, like prez said a lot of the games on thet able came from germany. And yeah, I bet Aya got a ton of fans, she just is oblivious to it.^^

FlareKnight User of the "Fast Draw" Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Canada	Spoiler for Ep1: That was a pretty cute first episode. The early dynamic with Miki and Aya was pretty fun. It felt appropriate both with Miki freaking out a bit about wandering around randomly and Aya managing to calm her down. I tend to have some stress about potentially getting lost too. But I could buy Aya's angle. If you have no specific destination then wandering around a bit is fine. And adding the class rep to the group went smoothly. The manager was a pretty fun guy and helped in his own way bring these three together. Not much of a board game person myself. Haven't played one with friends or family in a while. I guess it might help if the audience could somehow become more invested in the actual game they are playing, but I somehow feel they won't spend enough time on the game for that to happen. Overall, along with the lyrics in the OP, it almost felt like a morning anime. Except it isn't. Anyways, hmm...
