Mute: Just a bit too sharp for me, especially the left hand side. The colour scheme doesn't seem to work either. Cute image of Mio though. 7.5/10
Halad: Nice work; the lighting is top notch, which is to my liking Who's the guy and what's the obsession with him? 8.8/10 |

Thanks 6/10? Dang it, Photoshop! Your resizing killed the render XD
JRendell: 9/10 - Really good effects and lighting. I like it~ CMHerrera: 8/10 - Bright and vibrant. Haladflire65 - 8/10 Once again, good colors and lighting.

@Kelsidina It's not the effects or wireframes and stuff that define a sig. There are many artists known for their simple but astonishingly stunning work (Kaze, JRendell, Rennir, to name a few). What's important is that the sig gives a pleasing aura, is an eye catcher, lovable & so on. Lightning and depth are important too, but not ALL sigs need that.
No, I am not picking a fight with you, I just thought of posting something here No offense meant or taken @CMHerrera CUTE! But I agree with Halad ^^ 8.3/10 @Haladflire65 He seems to be hanging in midair O_O And the colors match that of Indian flag -_- Other than that, I loved the lightning and the smudging (wish I could do smudging) <333 Great work as usual 8.5/10

I would rate a sig, but I think I already rated the person above me xD;
Quote:
It's just, I was told that hardly anything was done to my sig, but I actually did quite a bit :P I was told that all I did was lighting and text, but if you look at the original render, you can see that that's not the case. I wasn't talking about defining it at all. That's true, not every sig needs depth Well... What I find important in a sig is the variation of techniques and the thought put into it For example, some sigs can look nice, have a lovely aura and can be pleasant to the eyes, but what if not much was done to it? Well... When I rate and comment, I look at the effort more than the overall effect, though I do look at both but then that's just me ^^;; No problem, it's nice to discuss these things xD |

CMHerrera- 8.6/10 Non anime sigs FTW!!!
Star beat me to it, but I feel like I still need to say this. I'll keep this short so as not to derail this thread. @mute:You rated Kelisidina’s sig 5/10 for not having enough effects, or at least one’s that were visible. That is perfectly fine; a lot of people judge signatures by the effects and work that are put into them. I personally also take this into account when rating signatures. But it shouldn’t be the sole criteria for a signature. If I were to put every single effect into a signature, it would, without a doubt, look bad. Too many effects are bad for signatures, which is why signatures shouldn’t be judged by the effects that they contain in the first place. In order to get to the heart of the debate, we have to ask “What exactly makes a signature or a work of art good?” I personally think that it is aesthetic beauty. If art wasn’t able to impact people on some level, no matter how much time an artist put into a painting, and how many different techniques he uses, all of it goes to waste. That is why it doesn’t matter whether a person just crops an image or uses tons of effects in his signature. At the end of the day, whichever looks better is the better IMO. And I have seen cropped pictures that look better than signatures decked out with effects too. If a person is able to make a cropped signature look as good as one that has a lot of effects, why not do it? It saves a lot of time, but more importantly, provides a result of similar quality. Lastly, I’ll leave you with the quote “Simplicity is beauty, beauty is simplicity.” Art doesn’t need to be complex in order for it to be good or beautiful.
