You'll have to watch episode 17 for that. But needless to say, after the event in episode 17, Shion no longer have to live in hiding from her family anymore.

Thought so. Here comes my crazy theory - the Sonozakis think (or know) that Shion has a lot to do with Satoshi's disappearance, they hate the Houjou family therefore their opinion for Shion is much more favourable by the time of Watanagashi.

Just unbelievable what Shion did to Satoko.
That little girl has been through hell in life already. He family abused by the whoole village, then both parents murdered and dump off at 2 abusive step parents. Satoshi was the only person left in this childs universe. Satoko has been through more traumas than most have during a lifetime and needs every love and support so she can be a loving stable adult.
No excuses, period.

^ I can relate to that. Shion is very upsetting to me in this episode. Satoko is one of my second fave characters besides Rika and Mion. I agree, Satoshi really was the only person left that she could look up to. I won't say anything else, as I've watched way past these already.
