I think the director of the series tried to continue both with a bonus disc called Project Z but at that time popularity of the GGG series had waned and the project was scraped. It wasn't until the tail end of 2016 that an LN was approved and still publishing. Though as of current only on volume was released.

I'm hoping someone scanlates, I've been waiting for Project Z for a long time, even if it's only in this form.

Three more chapters have been released with the current one now getting into the actual story. Interesting enough it has the kids that came back from the events of GGG Final grown up now.

Also adding the first volume for the manga is set for a late March release with a limited edition bundle that will include an audio drama and a new opening and closing for the Gaogaigar Vs Betterman series.
