What the hell. The first anime had as its main producer the TBS channel and never hearing about it having had any large audience. I think the anime must have a new producer, maybe some streaming.

This came out of absolutely nowhere. The series had closure for its main characters and I wasn't under the impression it was popular, so I never thought there'd be a sequel.

Got it right the first time, including the end. Why not just let it be? Get the band back together and write a totally new story.

The ending of the first season was fine and wrapped everything up well so I really don't think this needs a season 2. Maybe we'll get a new cast, but I still doubt the necessity of continuing this series.

Joe should still be in his twenties, he's not going to pass the torch to someone else. It's mostly going to be Ashita no Joe 2, he'll meet a boxer that will rekindle his desire to fight and help him get over whatever issues he may have.

Sachio will be about 17, so it's entirely possible he could be boxing competitively by this point.

I just re-watched Megalo Box recently this year with Eng Dub. It's a pretty good & enjoyable dub. I recommend it to anyone who plan to binge-rewatch the show in one go. I also watched this great long video from AnJ superfan as an accompaniment:

That said, I'm mixed about the show getting another season. It still has potential, but I don't won't them to recycle the general plot from S1. The subplot about the Gears being potentially used by the military is ripe for more exploration. Just sayin'.
