Let's see... Hory Froating Head, The Ultimate Troller of the Year, and now Asshole huh?

I must admit though, I can't see the point of why he decided to troll the large fanbase of the series. Any ideas?

Make more money with the movie? C'mon, let's face it, the majority here is salivating to see it, no?

After episode 1, I thought Sheryl was going to be the plot device for Ranka's rise to stardom. You know, the typical arrogant jealous hateful has been idol. Add to the fact she's another pink haired hime (i have learnt to dislike em after Gundam Seed).

But little by little, I've grown very attached to this character. From a haughty pop idol at ep 1, we get to see the determined and hardworking side of her in episode 3. Ep 5 Star Date and Ep 8 High School Queen gave us a playful, curious and mischievous Sheryl. Ep 6 Bye Bye Sheryl shows the sentimental and vunerable side. Sheryl gotten a great deal of character development and moreso than Alto and Ranka combined over the series. She makes all the other characters in Macross seem so two dimensional.

Normally I like my anime to end with something heartrending. Before the last episode, I was bracing myself for a classic Romeo and Juliet tragic ending for Alto x Sheryl. That didn't come true but not to my disappointment even if it was so damn cheesy for Ranka go Jesus Christ Superstar and resurrect Sheryl and save humanity in one space concert.

Just shows how much I ve grown to love her that I didn't mind one bit that all the build up for an emotional ending was all for nought because she lives and I can go to sleep at night knowing that a fictional character lives on in a fictional world.

Exasperated. But not only in a good way. I am very much dreading some more trolling from SK, either by doing a "Ranka route" or again ending it on an indecisive note. After expecting an epic ending for the romance in series and getting the "clue it together for yourself, folks!" thing, my confidence in his storytelling has wavered.

To be fair, you'll find a series with some depth and guts once in a while.

I remember watching True Tears.

Spoiler:
There's KGNE as another example, also Kimikiss comes to mind. There seems to be more courage required when working on series that are mainly dramas nowadays.

Whooops!

Sorry about that. Just think of it as one of those "it's not the destination, but the journey that counts" kind of shows.

That is very true. Macross Frontier had been an extraordinary journey, although I can't say I want to repeat the experience.

I know however, that when the next Macross TV airs, I will be on my toes again *sigh*

Spoiler for True Tears:
Should you put those into spoiler, we don't want to multiply the number of victims

Spoiler for True Tears:

I hate it when they change the first few minutes of MF in aired version. We didn't see "Strawberry Pie" screens and sequence. The MF introduction+ Alto academy screens were also cut. Ranka role suddenly become more important ( she appeared first also, while in the 2007 version, she even appeared after the "long-hair-girl" who Luca like) while Sheryl's role become much less significant

My guess (because i am biased) is: the original ending go to Sheryl. But as the sequenced movie was approved, the triangle have to be more balance (beginning and ending are the most important...)

Actually I was referring to True Tears after I spoiled it BetoJR. But yeah, I think the same goes for Macross Frontier as well.

Now for the mecha porn on the other hand, it's always the last battle that most anticipate.

Not really. At least I'm not. The way he ended the series, left a very bitter taste in my mouth that no amount of rum and coke has been able to wash out yet.

That's why I stated the majority, not the totality of people here.

Don't worry, time will take care of everything. I'm sure all of us will watch the movie once it premieres. The problem is, how long will we have to wait to get our hand on it

Oh I'll probably watch it once it reaches the internet. Depending how it goes though, dictates whether i spend a dime on the blu ray for the series and movie, or not.

Watching the Blue-Ray rips and good translations of the first four episodes is making me want to watch the series again. So I have to disagree with those of you who think this is not a rewatchable series. I think it is.

It definitely is. My only reason not to ( at the moment ) is lack of time. I need to do tons of stuff in my free time, like watching Legend of the Galactic Heroes. BTW, Reinhard totally wants a threesome with his sister and Kircheis. ^^

Got the same files I guess, but I would appreciate if you told me how to get subs for them.

So theoretically, Alto and Sheryl have a kid. More likely than not they'll end up a performer. Probably one of the best in all the universe. Said offspring needs to marry someone in the Jenius Bloodline, the child of that union would create the ultimate Macross Hero/Herione
