At last, I have seen episode 11.

A beautiful and tender episode dedicated to focus upon Romeo and Juliet's dreams of the present. This is a transition to forget about the sour moments, but also for the upcoming tribulations that lie ahead.

Romeo was quite a fine grown-up to acknowledge and letting Cielo to go with its newfound mate, though he was still hurt to say good-bye to his old friend which whom it kept him company for nearly 10 years.

Indeed, they were like brothers.

But both found their happiness on a dear one.

Romeo now has his sweet Juliet.

And it was good to see that Romeo doesn't lack backbone and punch when he dealt bare-handed with one of those poacher bastards.

The scene of the chapel it is quite modified from the play, though I do not know if I recall it well.

I think in the play a friar, which was one of Romeo's most trusted friends, marry them in secret.

The point of the abandoned chapel is that their love meets with no boundaries, and their family names or titles are not even an impediment to express the true wishes of their hearts.

Romeo and Juliet want to be together, but fate is going to play its cruelest of games upon both.

The play "Romeo and Juliet" was not an original work, as Shakespeare did not write the original story. The play is an adaptation of a narrative poem. The poem wasn't an original work either. It was a translation of another poem by a pretty famous Italian writer.

Romeo x Juliet is not the first work inspired by this story, and all of them take considerable liberties. Think West Side Story.

Romeo and Juliet is a dramatization of Arthur Brooke's narrative poem The Tragical History of Romeus and Juliet (1562). Brooke's poem was not original either, being a translation and adaptation of Giuletta e Romeo, by Matteo Bandello, included in his Novelle of 1554.

And wait it gets better his was in turn an adaptation of Luigi da Porto's Giulietta e Romeo, included in his Istoria novellamente ritrovata di due Nobili Amanti (c. 1530)

I didn't know that...! But, Shakespear is the only one out of all those people who actually got famous....so I'm still going to call it Shakespear's R&J...

I actually read that in the novel . The author was not Shakespeare but someone else when I researched it If found out its true. I prefer this version of R&J to Shakespeare R&J . This version has more zest in it compared to it also the narrative and scenarios are better .

Ep 2 : This music has been the highpoint of this series and this episode was no different The first meeting between Romeo and Juliet was wonderfully handled. Though falling flowers is cliché for time standing still it was refreshing and I wasn’t bothered by that as I was caught up in the scene . The background designs are really intricate and detailed which feels as though you are transported into that realm This episode was slightly bitter sweet first love at first sight only to be shattered by the engagement

Juliet sounds and looks really cute when angry this Juliet for me anyway I prefer this angry version of Juliet to the emo version in Shakespeare play but I did have problems getting accustomed to Juli-etto to plane ole Juliet feels strange . The chase scene is spectacular they have managed to match up the Pegasus scenes from episode 1 The appearances of Crimson Whirl wind felt like a combo of Don Juan and Zorro

What happens at sixteen was rather intriguing as it doesn’t feature in the original Was delighted to see my other favorite character after Juliet, William it’s a humorous tribute. The interactions between R&J are sweetly handled feels as though poetry in motion . Japanese society has a cherry blossom Obsession it’s been nicely incorporated into the anime replacing the type of flowers

Juliet's revealing herself at the end of the episode was a pointless development. There was absolutely no reason for it. Now, I know many will argue that she's simply doing what's necessary to keep her vow, however, she could have fought all those guards without revealing herself. There was no way that they were going to capture her and release Romeo. A girl as street wise as Juliet would have known that. It just ain't happening.

Yeah, it was very courageous, but their whole plan was fairly stupid to begin with. If Montague is such an unpopular leader, I don't see why RxJ think they need to keep their relationship a secret, at least among Juliet's side. If Romeo bears no allegiance to his father's name, he could be a pretty useful ally, and he might be able to talk the Capulet faction out of repayment in blood.

I see the whole aspect of the "Tree of Life" plotline as setting up a scenario where the leads die in the end, but their sacrifice means something for the greater good. It's an odd situation, really - these are perfectly nice kids, young and beautiful and stupid in love, and normally I'd be rooting for them to win out in the end. But wouldn't one feel cheated by denying the very essence of the original story - the tragic ending? Thus, the "greater good" hedge - but it seems to me that would really be just as antithetical to the "original" because the core truth of what made that ending tragic was how pointless it was. If such a hedge is the result, isn't that just as much a betrayal as a true happy ending? The true happy ending part of me is pulling for, in spite of everything else?

Actually... I got the impression that the "it was for the greater good" theme was the entire objective of the original play's ending. Their deaths should have been needless, but they were not pointless--they served as a wake-up call.

I don't see it that way, though I know it's a valid interpretation. Perhaps "needless" would have been a more correct shading of what I was trying to convey...

Given the all too famous end to Romeo and Juliet latley i have had the feeling that the end is not going to happen the way most of us expect it. I wouldnt be surprised if by the end both are alive for the pure shock factor. This is just my hunch but im guessing romeo and juliet and their repective houses are repersented by the 2 trees of which one just like the capulet house is dead with exception of juliet.

When I watch the op, I can't help but notice this distinct part where it shows the Capulet sword, the Capulet monument all being destroyed, followed by iris's floating around and Juliet is uhh floating off into space then it pans to Romeo who has this "D:" look on his face but it turns into "^o^" face with all of the iris blowing in the wind toward the sky. Ah, I feel like as if I'm about to talk about the Astronomers Wife short story and the concept of bringing women "down to earth" but it looks like Juliet is floating up, as is the rest of the Capulet monument and the sword. Granted, anime op's don't always tell much or even anything, but the op says that Tybalt is badass, and that's certainly true! I just hope this Capulet Stuff Flies Up thing doesn't mean that the Capulets will be magically developing space rockets and going into space...

Anyway, based on the tree non-sense in ep 12... we have the world resting on a tree with two roots, and one of them (...Capulet?) has died, and the MYSTERIOUS OLD HERMIT MAN! says one is near death (...Montague?). The state of which the world will be in without the roots is unknown, but I'm going to assume that the dying tree root was supposed to symbolic of Capulet's removal from power. So I guess if the Montague one died, it would be a sign of Montague's removal from power, which would leave no one in power...? I can't really see a strong third party here except the common people, workers, etc. THE HEAD AND THE HAND MUST HAVE A MEDIATOR: THE HEART!!! type thing.

So let's say the Montague root represents their status atm. I see why OLD MYSTERIOUS HERMIT would say the remaining root is nearly dying... Montague isn't exactly robust and young and going to have some Eternal Rule over the land. And apparently Portia was such a babe back in the day that he didn't dare try to getting around much, so his only son is Romeo. Need to continue on the family and keep ruling, I think. So he puts Romeo into an arranged marriage with Hermione so they can marry and make babies. But Romeo keeps dissing Hermione hardcore. Ditched her when they were supposed to go watch fireworks, doesn't pay attention to her. So much for Montague's mating idea.

It turns out Romeo fell in love with that Capulet chick. Oh snap. He needs to be schooled, or something. But Montague needs his son, I guess. So instead of beating his ass, he sends him off to a mine to make himself useful as punishment.

I think his father sent him there thinking Romeo would need to become a kind of shady(?) person in order to raise the mines output, thus, if he could complete the task his father gave him, he would assume he understood the uhh "family business" and it's okay to come back. *shrug* Based on his reaction to Portia's ample living place, various things Romeo has done, bleh, he probably doesn't expect his wife or child to live humbly or "get their hands dirty".

What more than likely will happen is Romeo will just get more pissed at his dad by the end of Mines arc. Furthermore, he will probably find some way to magically unite the workers etc and there will be some damn Disney magic to the ending of this mine arc. Instead of him doing shady(?) things as I suggested above as his Father thinking what he might ideally do, he will of course do it the Disney way and there will be free cookies and milk for everyone! Except the dead Petruchio, of course.

(Where the hell is Tybalt? ._. I hope they don't do something random like uhh pair him with Hermione.)

In ep 12... Juliet acted cowardly. When the merchant on the road talks to her and Romeo, she hides behind him. When they decide to go fight off Montague's henchmen with a couple of freaking sticks, despite that they repeated their vows, I don't think they actually meant that and just wanted to go in with some bravado. (Uh, seriously, sticks and cloaks vs. fire and swords? Uh, Juliet was smarter as the Red Whirlwind/Hurricane/Wind/Etc) Then the act that causes Romeo to give himself up is Juliet flinching in fear.

Furthermore, her hair, her skirt. When she goes to change, she puts on a distinctly long yellow skirt (yellow being the classic color of cowardice, mind you), and puts her hair up. When she reveals herself at the end of the episode after repeating to herself the vows that they supposedly agreed upon in the last episode, her hair comes down, but the yellow skirt still remains. That said, RIP Juliet Montague, Ep 11-12.

Some express head hurting "ARGH WTF @ Juliet!" for being an idiot and revealing herself. I thought it was pretty dumb, but after looking over the events... Juliet acted cowardly. She temporarily took on some new identity for the episode, and came to terms with cowardice and came to terms with their vows made in the previous episode. The skirt thus remains as sign of her earlier cowardice and her recognition of it, and the hair comes down because she is fucking Juliet Capulet.

But this brings about something else. During the tree scene which we learned all of this nonsense about Magical Tree Escaluswhatever, we hear that one root has died, and the other is dying. Ignoring what I said earlier about it perhaps being a sign of their power/status, maybe it has something directly to do with them. During this particular scene, Juliet is wearing her hair up and her skirt, and she also gets like Psychic Escalus Mind Attack that made her uncomfortable and seemingly stare off. She also seems to stare off while cooking. Perhaps Magic Tree Lost Mental made her question what she was doing when she was cooking when it is not who she is, which thus... results in dinner. Luckily Old Hermit Guy +2 saves them with some food. While Romeo was hesitant to take his stuff, she was like, "Omg wowies ^_^" at everything... and well, why the hell wouldn't she be. She doesn't need to feel guilty about dinner now because some hermit helped out. When Juliet proposed that big save the town crap, I think it was to make up for her failure of dinner. She might suck at this housewive stuff, but she wanted to redeem herself with the sword (or I guess the dual wield art of Stick x Sword?).

Notably to me was, when Romeo opens the door to check outside after Mr. Hermit was knocked, everything is blue montague color outside on the house and door, and inside, it's all pink and red capulet illuminated by the fire inside... But by the end of the episode, the fire is outside, and the red clouds moved into the blue sky in the outside scene of the town. Ah, togetherness...

Did the tree root that I'm going to assume represents the Capulets die because in the last episode Juliet sort-of-married Romeo, thus technically no Capulets left? Would the tree scene had been different had she been there as Juliet Capulet, not, Juliet "I wish I was a housewive" sort-of-Montague? In this context, when Juliet resurfaces in the tree room in ep 13 with Ophelia, it seemed symbolic.


Edit: Oh, and even though I can't picture the couple raising swords against each other, there is this whole Red vs. Blue crap going on over the promo, the op, blah that seems hard to ignore...
