If anything, I like Oreimo because they are real, blood related sibling. That make it harder for both of them to accept their feeling as well as make it more interesting.
That said, while I'm still looking forward to it, I don't think the sibling got a good chance this time. A similar ending from two novel would be too easy to guess and make the story boring.

Well I suppose it makes sense to cash in on what you are known for. Not to mention no matter how people responded a good chunk will go ahead and read it anyways and don't risk losing the core fans by branching out.

Obviously won't be reading it (partially because I can't), but not that interested anyways.

I'm looking forward to this. I totally enjoyed the Kousaka siblings' story, and wouldn't mind reading something similar yet new.

That's actually this part from ANN translation:

The translation in winhlp32's spoiler tag is more accurate. The "one-year ago" is connected to the sister part of the statement.

Thank you relentlessflame for clarifying this for us. So that means maybe they are not related by blood. I think it could be expected because writing the same story again with the same plot would be boring and too predictable.

So, this is why it would be much more interesting to see were this story is heading to.

I think it's an interesting variation on a theme, in any case. You have two people who have been working together but without knowing each other for a long time, both doing sketchy work that they can't very easily make public. Now, fate brings them together under the same roof as a "family", but they still don't know each other's secret identities, and that they both have a lot more in common than they originally thought.

The thing I'm curious about is whether she had already figured out his identity already (and that's partly why she was avoiding him?), or whether they were both mutually-oblivious until the reveal. The summary makes it sound like he figures it out before she announces anything to him, anyway (since she never leaves her room). Beyond her being a hard worker and drawing the illustrations without complaint (since it's her job, I suppose), I wonder what she actually thinks of his work/writing as a personal opinion? I could see this being a point of contention...

In either case, it still has the same core element of trying to establish a relationship with your sibling holding a dark secret, but they're starting from scratch in that they just became siblings recently, and they both actually have something important in common. I think this writer will do something interesting with this premise, in any case. It's being billed as a "newly-became-siblings love comedy".

It's not released yet. Release date is 10th of december next week in Japan. And don't get your hopes up. When it's about fan translation you never know if someone will pick it up and translate it.

Well, let's hope someone picks it up........

The rival kinda reminds me of Kirino

The characters so far look very interesting. Kanzaki Hiro did a great job again on the drawings.

It's too early to say this but, I see a potential anime in this. Mark my words!

Incidentally, there was an Interview on AkibaBlog (NSFW Ads) about the new novel yesterday, and there isn't a whole lot of new news in this part (there'll be a second half that will have more details), but they did reveal the design of the "rival" character:

Nice pics.
Well, it looks promising so far. Any chance that someone has already read it and can make a quick review? And are there more pictures?

I assume she's going to be like Asagao from Cocoro Function?
