It's a pain, I know… I myself didn't manage to get a copy of the first printing, and had to wait a while for the next batch to be produced. Even now, I don't have a copy of Higanbana: The Second Night yet.

I have a question for you gentlemen. what does the 妹背 in Spider lily　～妹背の結びは東雲ぞ～ mean? I looked it up in the dictionary, but without result. Is it a proper name or something like that?

Judging from Google Translate, it seems it means something like a 'couple', or perhaps two people who are very close (possibly related)? …Or something to do with potatoes.

EDIT: Therefore I'd interpret the title of this piece of music as Spider Lily ~The conclusion of each couple is dawn~, which doesn't really make much sense. Maybe it's something like Spider Lily ~The story of each couple concludes at dawn~ or something… I could be way off. xD

Thanks. The examples for 妹背 there say "husaband and wife", "brother/sister", so I'll settle for couple.
(Also, if I may ask, what time would you think your patch will be ready, more or less? Will May suffice?)

Hmmm… We don't have that much left to translate, so the translation should be finished next month. After that, I'll try to quickly go through the last chapter, fixing any typos and whatnot. Otherwise, there are still a few other bits and bobs to do, such as translating some of the menu images, and of course, putting everything together and building the patch.

I can't say for sure when we'll be finished, but I'm hoping the patch will be released by the end of next month.

Good job guys! It turned out really nicely

One little thing I noticed though:
(I am not sure if this is an existing problem in the Japanese version or not)

Spoiler for Higanbana (First Story):

I found that at the scene right after where Kanamori finds the button in the restroom stall, and Marie and Kanamori's sprites are enlarged, pausing the game and trying to access the save files causes the sprites to block all of the right-click menus. It's not a problem at all, I was able to save just fine, just thought I'd mention it before I forgot ^^;

DaBackpack: That's a known issue present in the Japanese version of the game (and actually existed in Umineko Episode 8 too). We tried to fix it, but weren't able to figure out what was causing the sprites to obscure the backlog text and menu items.

If we figure out how to fix it, we'll be sure to update the patch, but I can't guarantee that will happen. Besides, it doesn't exactly cause huge issues.

I'm a pretty slow reader as I like to savour most of what I do and am still reading the first story, but for now I have to praise the bgm, its placement feels slightly different than umineko, the mood it creates has a distance to it, a serenity that, coupled with the violence under question in the story, has a nice subtle intensity. Now to get their titles.

I also think kanamori sensei is getting a much better treatment VN-style with elaborate monologues and all compared to his manga counterpart which felt incomprehensible and inexplicably brutal.

And, as expected, I like the writing's approach of directly showing us how different characters rationalize their behavior, this leads to interesting takes on the human condition and selfhood.

Ah, that makes sense. It doesn't bother me at all, it's just something I noticed is all. The translation patch is <good>, thanks to team Ronove for doing this.
