It just wasn't the same as the first season because of the pace, it didn't even have the same tension that an Alice vs. Souma battle would've had if this was the first season.

But I'll take what we can have

Wow they really started this season diving straight in with no filler. Next week episode is going to be good, look forward to it!

It may not be like that all the time but I sure enjoyed this first episode.
Has there been much choppiness in this first episode's adaption?
This pacing may work for the first episode but there are others it certainly will not. The fact that its this speed will kill it later. Plus if they slowed it down the impact would be far better. You could watch Top Chef on TV and get something better quality then this frankly

Ridiculously fast, and skipped chapters. Not a good omen.

Enjoyed it but the fast pace kills the tension that was so drawn out in the manga.

Yesssssssss! The ability of this anime to make me hungry is just so entertaining. It's also fun to hear Risa Taneda playing the ever lovely Erina-sama.

Hmm I'm didn't really read the manga but it appears everyone's saying that they skipped a bunch of stuff. How much content did they exactly skipped?

Now excuse, me I'm in the mood for some Pho.

What tension do you need. Its the first episode what idiot is expecting soma to lose.

Only ppl that have problem with the pacing is again the manga readers. It's fine and I enjoyed the hell out of it.

I enjoyed it, but I hope the rush doesnot become too bad for the later episodes. That could really kill the tension for the rest of the matches.

Souma returns without a single beat missed.

Personally I thought this episode was perfectly paced. (Non-Manga Reader)

Ahh, this is unfortunate. The pacing is so fast, there's literally no time to breathe. They didn't even have time for ero, something the first season always made time for.

If I had to guess, there is probably not going to be a third season. They seem to be rushing for a specific conclusion so they have to cover a lot of material in 13 episodes, and to do that they're cutting short a lot of the fluff and exaggeration that the series is known for. I really hope this move doesn't mess it up too much.

IT"S FINALLY HERE! The anime that'll make our mouths(and prolly something else too) all wet again.

Good to see we're not wasting any time and jumping straight into the heat of the autumn elections. Like,if you were to put the 1st season and this together it feels more like a 2nd cour than a 2nd season.

Didn't expect Alice to get K.O.'d by Souma with every single judge voting in his favor though, but I'm happy about it since she needed to get knocked down a peg or two - that chick was way too sure of her victory.

I also loved how Nikumi is now all cheery for Souma. Heck, she was actually cheering the loudest.

Wow this so unlike the first season pacing wise!

...Still the show feel like the good ole Souma love, so I can't say I didn't enjoy the pliota decent amount inspite of that.

Episode 1

This felt a bit fast, but was still quite good. The battle had its intensity. It felt like they shortened the cooking part and focused more on the judging part. Still nice that they didn't waste time with anything else and went straight to business.

The battle between Alice and Soma was quite good. Soma was bound to win anyway. Alice made something which could have been made with another theme too whereas Soma fully utilized the bento theme with his bento. Alice looked like she was doing some nekoing chemistry experiment but in the end, science failed. Alice learned that when it comes to food, it's not only the flavor that counts, it's the entire experience which determines whether the food is good or not. Soma's bento gave a full fledged bento experience which Alice's didn't have.

Now Megumi will be up against that monster. That monster has had restaurant serving experience with him which will obviously help him out in the battle just like Soma's experience helped him against Alice. But Megumi's food gives the heartwarming family like feel which saw her going through in the first place. Gonna be good.
