It seems to be discontinued.

The Australian boxset from Madman is easier to find for a low price and it's based on the Animeigo release. I ordered one yesterday. You need a region free DVD player and a TV that can run PAL signals (Or a DVD player which can convert the pal signal to a NTSC one).

I heard also that the ADV version has a lower sound quality. From what I've read it has more hisses.

You can get the Australian box for about 42 USD including shipping at www.Chaos.com.au

Got the AnimEigo set off of Robotech.com, $59.99 great deal, and have been watching it anew. I have seen bits and pieces of the original, nad have seen the Robotech versions hundreds of times. Kinda fun seeing how things were changed, and the deleted scenes I had forgotten about. Very happy with it.

I wanted to buy the one on Robotech.com but their shipping costs to Europe are expensive and they only accept credit card.

To the people complaining about the ADV version: don't. The sound is perfect and even the english dub isn't half bad. The only problem is that it's out of print.

I dunno, that dub makes Baby Jesus cry. Then again, I can't think of an ADV dub that I've been happy with in the history of well, ever.

Well, Mary Iijima's voice in the english dub sounds very nice.

Is Mari Iijima still the only seiyuu who got to do an English dub of her own character?

Seriously no one in the world can do Minmay better than she ever did. She is Minmay.

Good question. I, for one, don't know of any others...

If I recall it was pretty big news when the announcement was made since she was to be the first VA to do both the Japanese and English voices of the same character.

Yea, nothing like this ever happened and I don't think is going to happen again soon.

And we gotta keep in mind that she was actually already living in the US, when the plans for the new dub came about. That surely facilitated things and brought a whole new level of publicity to the box.

I dunno, I love Ijima in the original Japanese, and I think it's cool that she got the role in the US ADV release. But she doesn't quite sound right, I haven't seen all of the dub, is Minmay the only one in her family with an accent?

That an Misa's voice really grates on me too. But to each their own I suppose.

Exactly. I find it quite good, myself. And I hate most english dubs - frankly, the only ones I like are the ones for Akira, Cowboy Bebop, FMA and some Ghibli movies (most notably, the one for Princess Mononoke)...

Quick question here I'm watching through some Macross and was wondering about SDF Macross. I opted to watch the movie since I've heard some things about this series.

Dated graphics (obviously, but I don't think it would bother me too much)
Weird Pacing (heard it was supposed to be longer, had to be cut shorter but the show did well and got longer again?)

I just watched DYRL and it was great except some things that happened weren't as impactful as they could be in a series where the characters are more developed. I'm moving on to Plus and Zero atm and probably skipping 7 since I hear it's a bit odd but I wouldn't mind taking a look at this if people think the movie didn't do it justice.

I find the movie altogether charming on its own, but... the series is way more more developed, in terms of characters interactions, motives and such. Just be prepared for a even more annoying Mynmay and you're set.

Awesome, that's pretty much exactly how I felt watching some parts. I just felt some stuff would have been WAY better if it had time to develop like the Fokker incident, and when Mynmay and Hikaru get trapped.

P.S love how Hikaru chooses and sticks to it instead of like in Frontier.

In the TV series, he was just as much of an ass. Then again, that was partially Kawamori putting his persona on him.

But the first time out, it was way more believable, as you could see real feelings developing and changing over the course of the series. Too bad we only got it half-heartedly on Frontier...

The way we had it in Frontier was just unnatural.

Alto was clearly developing intense feelings for Sheryl full on, but Hippimori called in breaks and put a sudden stop. Then release... then stop... then release...

I am surprised that Alto wasn't broken as a result of that mishandling.

Who says he wasn't?
On the same topic, who says Hikaru wasn't, as well? I mean, with the emotional roller coaster his life became after the series began...
